“No. I can’t, there’s no way I can leave without Martha,” I said with an air of finality, succumbing to my fate.

Geri’s face screwed up into an irritated frown, and before I knew it, he slammed his fist into my gut, just right where my healing wound was.

“Ahh,” I groaned, my eyes widened in shock and pain, as his punch sent my body reeling and quaking with agony. Blood slowly dribbled down my mouth, as well as my stomach, where the wound opened up once again.

I could barely see Geri’s shocked expression from my blurry vision, but I managed to notice his confusion through it all.

I took a few minutes to recover, thanks to my regenerative powers. But I knew I had some explaining to do. Geri must have sensed that something was off, given my reaction and the amount of bleeding. His punch shouldn't have caused that much damage.

Thankfully, he didn’t choose to comment or ask what was going on. Instead, he dashed past me and went straight to my room, with quick, determined steps.
