Chapter 9

POV Lilly

Jasmine and I hurried to the girls locker room with Nik. There we were giving a gym outfit and told to go change by the assistant coach.

"These shorts are too short" I complained to Jasmine.

"But you look damn good in them." Nik replied, eyeing me.

I blushed and rolled my eyes as Jasmine chuckled.

"She's not wrong." Jasmine added.

After we changed, we walked out to the gym to see most of the boys already on the bleachers. Great. I felt all eyes on us as we walked in. I glanced up to see Griffin. He looked me up and down. I saw a flash of lust that was quickly replaced with anger. He stormed towards me.

"What the hell are you wearing?" he hissed and I shook my head.

"My gym uniform." I replied and he scoffed.

"Go get a bigger size!" he ordered and Jasmine stifled a laugh.

"Fuck off!" I replied and walked to the bleachers and sat down with Jasmine next to me.

"Damn, girls. You look hot as fuck." A male voice said.

I looked up to see Stone and Axel standing in front of Jasmine and I. Suddenly, I felt Griffin next to me. He sat down and put his arm around me.

"Go away." he commanded Stone and Axel.

They grinned but wandered off.

"I'm sorry, baby. I just don't like all these guys seeing you." he began but I just turned and stared at him.

I was about to tell him off when the coach came out and divided us into two teams. Crap. I wondered what we could possible do our first day in gym.

Dodgeball.

Fucking Dodgeball.

Fucking Dodgeball with damn werewolves and vampires.

I looked at Jasmine after the coach announced what we were playing. Luckily, she and I were on the same team. Griffin and his friends were on the other team. Great. We were screwed. Jasmine rose her eyebrows and made a movement with her hand like she was casting. I shook my head and grabbed her.

"No, Jasmine. It's too dangerous!" I hissed but she just smiled.

"Come on. They'll never know. Have a little fun." she replied, pulling away to take her spot.

I shook my head after her. I had a bad feeling about this.

The coach blew his whistle and chaos ensued. I tried to stay out of the fray and hid in the back behind my teammates who were getting hit left and right. I narrowly missed getting hit but the ball took a strange curve. I looked up to see Jasmine grin and shrug. I looked across to see who targeted me and laughed at the confused look on Dolph's face.

Maybe Jasmine was right. What was the point of having magic at our fingertips if we couldn't have a little fun with it once in a while? Besides, it's not like the Vamps or wolves didn't have an unfair advantage to begin with. We were just leveling the playing field, I reasoned.

I threw a ball at Dolph, he dodged it, or tried to but I flicked my wrist and it curved and hit him right in the stomach. He looked furious and I just smirked.

"That's my girl!" Jasmine called as she whipped a ball at Theo.

Again, it curved strangely and hit Theo unexpectedly. Now, both Griffin and Axel were staring at us. They also seemed to be smelling the air. I shook my head at Jasmine and nodded toward them. She sighed but shrugged in agreement. We both knew that we needed to stop. We didn't want to get figured out.

It was even more important that they not find out that we were witches now. In the past, we let one other pack in on our secret and it was fine but history has taught us that other supernaturals were not to be trusted. Werewolves and Vampires used to take Witches and force them into slavery. Our books taught us over and over again to never trust any of them.

Stone threw a ball at me and I barely tried to dodge it, getting hit in the leg. I waved to Jasmine and went to sit. I was surprised to see Griffin get hit with an easy throw from Jasmine a minute later. I glared and her but she shook her head. She wasn't using her powers.

"Hey, baby." he said as he sat next to me.

I ignored him and watched the game. Jasmine had decided to actually try and I smiled as she dodged a ball that Nik tossed.

"Stop ignoring me, Lilly." Griffin snarled.

I shook my head and cheered when Jasmine managed to hit Stone since he was too busy checking out a girl on his team.

"You and Jasmine sure have some interesting throws." he added and I shrugged.

"We've played a lot of dodgeball." I replied and he smirked.

"So you're done ignoring me?" he asked and I shrugged.

He slid closer and put his hand under my chin. He turned my face to look in his eyes.

"I'm sorry about before. About all of it.  I was jealous about your shorts and I truly wouldn't mark you against your will. I would never hurt you like that or in any other way. I know that I've made a terrible first impression as your mate today. I wasn't prepared to meet my mate and I didn't react properly. Can we please start over?" he implored.

I looked deep into his eyes and knew that he was being honest. I sighed.

"Fine but you're on thin ice" I replied and he grinned.

He kept a hold on my face and his eyes flicked to my lips. I stared back at him and I felt my stomach tighten.

"Nik finally got me." Jasmine announced as she ran up and broke the spell.

Griffin let me go and I pulled away to smile at her.

"You were awesome out there" Griffin replied and with grin.

Jasmine looked surprised, "Thanks."

The rest of gym passed without incident. Jasmine, Nik and I hustled off to the locker rooms. I took a quick shower and dressed, leaving my hair wet. What did I care? We only had one more class left. I followed Jasmine and Nik out to the hallway where Griffin, Theo and Dolph were waiting.

"I can't believe that you hit Dolph." Theo gushed as soon as he saw me.

I smirked and looked at Dolph who glared at me. Yeah, there was no way we were going to be friends any time soon. I looked around and saw Griffin staring at me. I furrowed my brow at him but continued to joke around with Theo as we began to walk. Griffin fell into step next to me.

"You okay?" I asked as he continued to stare.

He nodded and lightly pulled on the end of a piece of my hair.

"Your hair." he drifted off.

"Yeah, I didn't want to bother with drying it. Does it look awful?" I asked, kicking myself for not putting it up at least.

Griffin shook his head.

"No. It looks great." he rushed to say.

"It looks sexy as hell. I'm having a hard time controlling myself. All I want to do is pull you into an empty room and ravage you." he replied and suddenly, I was breathing hard.

Thankfully, we arrived at our last classroom for the day. Griffin opened the door for us and we piled through. The room was already crowded but Jasmine and I found seats next to each other. There was an empty seat next to me that Griffin quickly claimed. The rest of the crew sat together on the other side of the room.

"Are you sure that you will be able to survive without your squad?" Jasmine teased him.

Griffin rolled his eyes.

"I have a feeling that you two are far tougher than any of them" Griffin replied.

"Not cool!" Dolph called over and we laughed at his scowl.

The teacher came in and class went smoothly. The bell rang sooner than I expected. Jasmine and I hurried out to the hallway but Griffin kept up with us. He again walked us to our lockers where Jasmine and I were surprised to see Cedric waiting.

"Jasmine!" he called as we neared.

"I was wondering if you needed a ride home?" he asked and Jasmine looked at me helplessly.

"We drove." I whispered to her and she shook her head at her own idiocy.

"Sorry, Cedric. I drove today. Thanks though." she replied.

I heard a trace of sadness in her voice and I looked at her. I smiled when I saw her grin at Cedric. She was smitten. Not as much as Cedric, mind you, but enough.

Jasmine and I quickly opened our lockers and shuffled what we needed into our bags. Luckily we didn't need much since we had done most of our homework in class.

"You sure that you two don't want to come to grab a bite with us?" Griffin tried and I sighed but shook my head.

"We would love to but we can't. Sorry!" I replied.

Jasmine and I wave goodbye and hurried out the door and to her car.

POV Griffin

Cedric and I stared after the two girls as they rushed away. I looked at Cedric and he looked as confused

"What do you think those two are hiding?" He asked and I shook my head.

"I wish I knew" I replied as we smiled at each other.

I said goodbye to Cedric and went to find my crew at our lockers.

"Did they leave?" Theo asked and I nodded.

"Stan is tailing them home." Nik said after her face blanked for a moment.

"Good." I replied.

"Also, your Dad wants to meet with us. One of the trackers saw something strange at the girls house today" Nik added.

"Let's go" I replied and we hurried out to our bikes

We made it to the pack house in no time and all hurried to Dad's office.

"Oh, good we were waiting for you" Dad said after we rushed in.

Dad, Graves, Boris and a tracker from our pack were already there, waiting for us. Dad gestured to the tracker and he began.

"The house was quiet most of the day. The girls left for school and an hour later, Iris left to run errands. She went to the bank, post office and a couple of shops" He began as the rest of us sat down.

"Everything seemed normal until a couple hours ago. I want you to see this" he added as he played the video from the surveillance.

We watched as someone opened the door of the house and walked out. We watched in confusion as an elderly lady walked out and got in one of the awaiting cars. She seemed to move quickly and surprisingly well for the age that was shown on her face. She pulled away and we looked at each other.

"No fucking way" Dad muttered as he exchanged a look with Graves and Boris.

"What?" I asked.

"It looked just like her" Boris replied to Dad.

"Who?" Dolph asked.

"She's dead. I saw her body." Dad insisted.

"Can someone tell me what's going on?" I demanded and finally Dad looked at me.

"That woman looks just like Rose and Iris's mother" he replied and I furrowed my brow.

"She's been dead for over twenty years." he added and I sighed.
