Chapter 3

Pain and grief

She looked at the man in front of her, wondering why he was mute. He hasn't uttered a word to her since he called her, except for the weird question he asked her. She patiently waited for him to say something, he must have something to say to her since he told her to stop. She looked at him as he stood, looking back at her. At this point, she was getting impatient, and slightly annoyed by his silence.

“Why isn’t he saying anything? If he has nothing to say, and all he’s going to do is stare at me, then why bother to stop me?”She thought as she furrowed her brows. She was getting impatient. Now that that wolf was dead, thanks to this stranger, she needed to go check up on her parents. She had to go now, to stop herself from overthinking and worrying too much. She had a bad feeling, she hated it and she wanted to get rid of it. “I need to get to my parents now! I must leave now, I should tell him. I'm grateful he saved me, it's only because of him  I'm alive now. I don't think I'll ever thank him enough, but I should be with my parents now.” She thought as she looked at him.

He stared at her, contemplating if he should tell her she was not human. He noticed she looked worried and she had something to say, but she hesitated. He wondered what was on her mind. Just as he was about to speak, he was stopped by her words.

“Hmmm…sir, I appreciate you saving me from that beast, and I'll forever be grateful and indebted to you. But, I need to leave now, I have something really important to do. I don't want to come across as ungrateful or anything like that, but I hope you understand.” She blurted out in haste, as she squeezed both her hands.

“What's so important, that's got you so worried at a time like this?” He asked, as he raised one of his brows.

“Well, the thing is, the wolf that you saved me from, attacked me back at home, with my parents. I was forced to leave them alone with the wolf, while I went to get some help. But somehow, the wolf still got to me. Now, I need to get back to them, to confirm if they're okay.” She said, as she tried to control herself from crying.

“Oooh” he said, nodding his head in understanding.

“ So she has parents. Are they also not humans? If that's the case, do they know they're not humans? Since she's completely ignorant of the fact that she's not human, there's a possibility they also don't know.

Hmmm, but there's also a probability that they are humans?” He pondered, as he looked at her with interest.

“Well, there's only one way my questions will be answered.” He thought, as he looked at her.

“Okay child, I won't delay you any more than I already have. Forgive my negligence, to atone for my mistake, I'll escort you home .” He said, as he smiled at her.

She stared at him with mixed feelings, she was shocked and grateful for his offer. She was shocked he still wanted to help her ‘a stranger’ after saving her from that beast. She was grateful he offered to escort her, because she assumed she might encounter another beast on her way home, and he's the only one that could help her.

“I appreciate you trying to help me, but I don't want to be a burden or bother to you. You've done more than enough for me, I can handle the rest myself.” She said as she smiled at him.

  “Nonsense!

You're not a burden. Like you said, I saved your life, I just want to secure the life that I saved. There's a high chance you'll come in contact with another wolf and get killed. So to avert such, I should go with you.”

She looked at him, understanding what he said. “Okay, kind sir. I appreciate you doing this for me” She said, giving him an honest smile.

“Then lead the way.”  He said to her.

She turned her back at him,as she walked towards the direction of her house. He walked right behind her, following her steps.

Minutes later, the house came into view.

As she got closer to the house, she felt her stomach churn from fear and dread. With every step she took, she felt her heart pace faster.

She couldn't hear a single sound, it was eerily quiet.

She stood in front of the door, staring at the door knob, unable to open the door.

She finally opens the door and is welcomed with a horrendous sight.  She gasped in shock as she stared at the lifeless bodies of both her parents. She stood, rooted to a spot, looking at her mother’s decapitated body. She couldn't believe her sight. She was stunned with shock. She couldn't believe her eyes.

She walked over to the lifeless body of her parents. She fell to the floor as she held her father’s body close to her chest and her mom’s hand. She cried as she held them.

“No, this can't be happening. You said you'll be okay, was it a lie? You can't do this to me, you can't leave me all alone. It's not fair, you promised to stay with me. You promised we'll never be separated.

No No No! This can't be happening” She said hysterically.

Suddenly, a surge of energy burst out of her body. Everything around her and in her path got destroyed, except the bodies of her parents and the werewolf. Luckily, he managed to evade the energy attack that came from her, but not without getting a few injuries.

“ Such power! She really is powerful, just as I thought.” He marveled.

“ But there's something different about this power” He thought in confusion as he stared at her and watched the energy around her slowly disperse.
