Chapter fifty-one: Setting the trap
Dan still could not get over the vampire attack on his Uncle Christopher. Despite the fact that he had told his father that he would not take Zander's summons into account, he was thinking about it seriously. He thought that he could seize the moment to end him once and for all and take revenge for all the damage he was causing. He mentioned his concern to Darius and Darius of course did not agree. He kept thinking that it could be another one of the vampire's traps to kill him and he didn't want to risk it.
“What if we go ahead and set a trap for him first?” Dan suggested.
“Zander must have thought of that already,” Darius replied. “Somehow he will realize it and he will not fall for anything that we prepare for him. He is very cunning.”

The hours passed very slowly for Dan and his family. He wondered if those detectives considered what he had told them. Zander watched the smoke from the explosion with great satisfaction. His plan had worked and he was pleased that he didn't have to use anyone else to deal with the alpha's son. For his part, seeing the explosion and with the creature out of the picture, Mulligan gave the order. All the policemen formed a semicircle around where Zander was and began to move forward pointing at him. Seeing that he was surrounded, Zander signaled and the vampires posted in the trees began to descend while others inside the building behind him came out to face the intruders. Seeing that they were coming upon them, Mulligan ordered to open fire on them. The luckiest were the SWAT men, who had machine guns and could hit vampires in the head and heart. Fully recovered, Dan returned home a few days later and was preparing to return to work, although Darius insisted that he continue to rest for a few more days. The day after the confrontation where Brooke and several policemen died, Christopher went to them to tell them that the unknown creature had indeed saved him from the attack of the vampires and that he had woken up in Central Park hidden in some bushes.
