Chapter forty seven

Dane felt a shiver go through his bones. He heard the echoes of his feet against the floor. The long pillars cast hidden shadows which felt like he was being watched by someone.

He could not bear it any longer as he rubbed his hands together. He followed the girl who wore a long white robe through different halls.

Her face was hidden with her veil. He had no idea if she was a woman or not because of the way her body was covered with so many clothes.

The last time he had visited, it hadn't been so eerie. Now, it felt worse. It seemed like the spirit of death was lurking around the walls.

Why the hell didn't he send a letter instead? Deep down, he knew the reason. He wanted to curry favor with him.

"Sir, this way." The voice of the lady in front of him made him jerk his head toward her.

It was like metal scraping against metal. From her veil, he could see her eyes. They were blood red.
