Chapter fifty one

Some moments earlier…….

Dane stood on the edge of the forest, his keen senses alert. He could feel the tension in his muscles, his eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of movement. He could hear the rustling of leaves in the trees, the distant sound of running water, and the soft whistling of the wind. But he could not see them.

He had been following them for days, his orders to keep a close watch on Nicklaus and his mates.

He could not afford to fail this time around. He had not told Isabelle what was expected of her. He had decided to take on this first before he would tell her about it. He didn't want to get distracted on this mission.

Dane took a deep breath and began to move through the trees, his senses on high alert. He could smell the earthy scent of the forest floor, the sweet aroma of wildflowers, and the faint scent of smoke. He followed the trail left by the group, his instincts telling him that they were close.
