Chapter 5

The dead bodies laid all over the place, each besides the other or on top of the other. The ground was filled with the stains of blood on it as it trailed down to the river, the earth was too weak to dry up the blood of it's children and the river was now a deep shade of red as a result of the dead bodies laying inside it and the blood that flowed into it continuously.

The first sob came, then the second and a girl was seen sitting there; her hair all over the place, shivering in fear as she looked at the dead bodies that surrounded her, she looked up with her blood shot eyes and choked out "help".

"Please, help" she repeatedly said to the unknown person as she grabbed her hair and cried uncontrollably. Her body shook violently before she looked up at the person with a crazed look in her eyes "why wouldn't you help!!?" She shouted

"Ahhh" Elle screamed as she jumped up from the bed breathing heavily, her forehead was filled with sweat and her body was shaking

"it's just a dream Elle, just a dream" she muttered to herself, taking deep breaths to calm herself down.

"Elle wake up and get down for breakfast" a bright smile appeared on her face as she heard her mum's voce it really is a dream she thought, she then stood up from the bed and walked into her bathroom to freshen up.

"Good morning Dad, Good morning mum" she greeted her parents while giving them a soft peck on the cheek, needing to feel the skin to skin contact to believe that she is really with her parents.

"Good morning sweetheart" both of her parents chorused happily as they both gave her a quick peck on the cheek, they finally settled down and started eating.

"Elliebear" her mum, Anna, called out to her lovingly and she cringed at the nickname.

"mum! Don't call me that" she whined like a child.

"Sorry Ellie....bear" her mum teased her and they all started laughing, anyone could really see it's a happy family. The laughter quietened and they just had a huge smile on their faces before Elle's mum asked her about what happened in the morning.

  "I heard you screaming this morning, is everything okay? Nightmares?" Anna asked in a soft voice

"Yes mum" she responded as her face fell when she remembered the horrifying things she saw.

"Wanna share? Does it have anything to do with the kidnap?"  Anna asked her softly as she gripped her hand in a soothing manner.

"No mum, I don't quite remember everything" she bluntly lied for some odd reason.

Anthony watched the two most important women in his life and smiled brightly before he held their hands "It was just a nightmare Elle hun, we are here for you and sweetheart don't worry too much, okay?" He reassured them with a bright smile on his face, they both nodded with a small smile on their faces too and continued with their breakfast.

When they were done with the breakfast and clearing the dining table they moved into the living room to watch TV, when everyone was seated they turned on the news channel and it was the principal of Starlight academy giving his daily report on the missing students, Anthony quickly turned the TV off and they all sat in an awkward silence.

Elle stared at the blank television for a while before she spoke up "Mum and Dad, am I not meant to report to the school and the police as the only student that escaped?"

"No" they both answered at the same time

"You will do no such thing Elle, promise me now" Anna said wide eyed, she grabbed her daughter's hand and shook her head vehemently.

"Why? I'm the only one that came back, the information I'll give to the police might be important. I'll give them a sample of the map" Elle asked, even tho she knows that she might be endangering herself doing that.

"No! You'll be putting yourself in the face of danger by doing that, don't you understand?" Anna asked her in a fearful voice

"You will do no such thing Elle" Anthony ordered in a very firm voice

"But dad..."

"No more arguments Elle" he said and walked away, Elle sighed and looked at her mum but Anna just shook her head and stood up to leave but stopped

"Don't even think of leaving this house" she said and went after her husband. Elle sighed heavily this time and stormed up to her room.

"How then am I supposed to figure out the school's connection to all this?? Even if I can't save the world I should at least save my classmates" she muttered as she sat down on her bed frustratedly.

"Calm down Anthony" Anna said as she patted his back.

"Don't ever let her leave this house, do you understand?" He said to her in a low voice, fear evident in his eyes.

"We both know what we are risking the moment she goes to the Police" he said staring right into her eyes, and Anna nodded as usual. He smiled and gave her a small kiss on the cheek "I'll be leaving now" she just nodded again and he left.

Elle kept tossing over and over again in her bed thinking of what to do, after a while she decided to go to the library and gather as much information as she can about the other realm, it'd be able to help her understand the two parties involved and figure out if she'll be able to help her classmates. She quickly changed into another outfit, picked up her library membership card and a few cash, and  went to her mum.

"Mum?" She called quietly and her mum looked up from her laptop and gave her outfit a one over and shook her head

"No" she said and went back to her work

"But mum, hear me out" she started and as her mum was about to cut her off she continued "I just want to go to the library to grab a few books and I'd come pack immediately. If you don't believe me, I'll share my location with you right now" she explained, desperately trying to get her mum to agree.

Anna sighed and looked at her again, she wants to permit her to go but she's scared of what she might do if she lets her go. She was about to say no again but Elle pleaded again and she just gave in, she gave Elle her second phone and shared her location "Don't even think of turning this off or messing with it, do you understand?!" Elle nodded and kissed her mum's forehead and rushed out, Anna looked at her daughter's retreating figure and shook her head.

"Ahh.. fresh air" she said as she breathed in and out heavily. She looked around for sometime taking into account the same environment she has been seeing for years, her view and appreciation for everything changed after her time in the other realm. She looked around for a while before she stopped a taxi and headed straight for the library.

When she got there, A different librarian sat there with a cheerful smile on his face and she immediately did the sign of the cross. She so wasn't ready to explain to Lizzy the other librarian how she got off from the kidnap.

"Good morning, do you need any help around the library?" the dark haired librarian asked with a very beautiful smile on his face, Elle just stood there looking at him. He is about 6'3ft tall, with big brown eyes that looked so innocent and the smile on his face just made him breathtaking.

"Excuse me??" He asked as he waved his hand around her face

"Are you even human?"  She asked and the boy let out a little laugh, Elle quickly realized what she said and the embarrassment kicked in"I mean.. what was your question again?"

The boy just chuckled again and repeated the question "do you need any help around the library?"

"No, I'm quite used to this place but if I do, i won't hesitate to call you" she said and walked away embarrassed

"Such a cutie" the boy muttered and walked away

"Ugh!! Kill me now just kill me" Elle muttered to herself as she went in search of the books she wanted, she moved into the fantasy/paranormal section, she walked around for sometime before she came across a book that said "Aether world"

She picked it up and scanned it, it talked about two realms that were once together. She quickly scanned the book once more, she saw names like halflings, faires, humans and a lot of weird things she saw in the other realm. The book said "fiction" in bold letters but she took it anyway. She made to sit down and read it there but she decided against that and walked to the librarian

"I'll take this with me" she said as she placed the book on the desk.

"Can I have your membership card?" Elle quickly brought it out, the boy scanned it and looked for her name in the register, when he found it he  gave her the book and she signed.

"Why this book tho?" he asked as he gave her the book

"It's for research purposes" she responded with a smile and left, The boy stared at her retreating figure for a while before he realised something and picked up his phone.
