Chapter 45: Confrontation

THIS MORNING, the smile on my lips still hasn't disappeared because of what happened between Marcus and me last night. My heart is full of joy because of that and I don't want to let it go. I just want to savor it because there's a truth that I don't know how long I'll be able to feel it. I really only felt that with Marcus because maybe he was the only one capable of giving that to me.

"Oh! Your face looks happy, Syrie, huh?" Vernon greeted me when I got out of my room.

I smiled at him. "I'm just feeling happy today, Vernon," I returned to him.
