IANNA’S POV
In class Christina and I shocked everyone when we got back together. Sat together, talking and laughing. The last class was enjoyable and for the first time since I started school. It wasn’t all that bad.
After school Christina and I waited for her driver to pick her up then I rushed to the woods. I shifted into my wolf form and went for a run. I ran and ran then when I was tired. I went and wore my clothes then walked home.
I knew my mother was going to be angry and scold me, but I didn’t care. I was happy and nothing she could say to me today will take that away from me. “Keep it that way Ianna and all will be alright.” I stopped in my tracks and smiled hearing my wolf.
“Hello Sandra, its good to hear from you today.” She chuckled. “Oh, I could not possibly intrude, you were having so much fun with your new friend.” I smiled. “Can you believe it, someone wants to be my friend, she did not care about all the things they said to me. She even stood up for me with Lissa.”
I laughed picturing my sister’s face when Christina stood up for me and called me her friend. How priceless. “I know, I was there.” I laughed. When I appeared home my smile vanished. “Oh, no you don’t. you said you will not let them ruin your mood today.” That’s right.
I will not let them; I am so happy to let them spoil it for me. I took a deep breath before opening the door and walking inside. I could hear Lissa and my mother talking. I did not mind them. I went upstairs, changed, and went into the kitchen.
“You are getting used to coming into this house late, I am warning you Ianna, if that boy you are seeing impregnates you, I will kick you out of this house and ask the alpha to kick you out of this pack before you make things worse for everyone.” My mother said but I paid her no mind.
I took out the ingredients and started cooking dinner. “You see, she is becoming cheeky now and I am sure she spewed lies about us to that new girl at school. That is why she was mean to me today.” Mom scoffed.
“Huh, let that girl be, but soon enough, she will see what a mistake she has made.” I still ignored them since it was so hard for them to believe that someone could stand up for me because they cared about me.
After finishing dinner, I dished for them then took my plate and went to eat upstairs. After I was done, I took my bucket and went to fetch water and took my bath. When I was done, I set the alarm before going to bed.
Waking up this morning, I felt like a new person, someone with hope, something I never had in my life, and it felt good. I prepared for school and finished just on time. Just when I took a seat in the kitchen to have my breakfast Lissa walked in.
She was ready for school as well; she took an apple before Jeyden blew his horn outside and she said before hurrying out. “Better stay out of my way today.” I ignored her. I had a friend and nothing she said was going to change that.
I finished my breakfast and went to wait for the bus. By now everyone knew who I was, and they stayed away from me. I did not care though for I had a friend waiting for me at school.
The bus arrived at school, and everyone got out. Still people were standing around in groups talking before classes started. I looked around for Christina and I could not see her. I thought she was already inside.
I rushed in and there were only a few students inside the school. I went to my locker and placed my bag inside after taking the books I would need. When I turned around a group of girls was standing there.
I wanted to pass but they blocked my way. I tried again but to no avail. “Tell us, what witchcraft did you use on Christina to make her want to be friends with the likes of you?” wow, now I am a witch too.
I ignored them and tried to push past them but one of them pushed me hard and I fell with my bum on the floor. “Stand up and tell us what you did, you witch!” one bellowed. “Yeah, tell us, what potion did you use on her?” another said.
“I used nothing!” I yelled irritated by them, I stood up and dusted myself off, but another pushed me from the back, and I bumped into the ones in front of me. “Eeew!” she slapped me across the face. “You want to curse me as well, huh. How dare you bump into me.”
I was surrounded and they continued insulting me and beating me. “What the hell are you doing! Leave her alone!” Christina pushed them aside and came to stand in front of me glaring at them. “Touch her again and see what I will do. I dare you all to try me, now!” The girls shared a look then walked away.
Christina helped me up. “Are you alright Ianna? I am sorry I arrive so late.” I wondered if this is how it felt having a friend, someone to stand up for you even without knowing what has happened. “I am alright Christina.” She clicked her tongue in anger.
“Come on, let’s go to the principal’s office, he must do something about those girls, they can’t go around bullying others like this.” I shook my head. Telling on them will not help.
“No Christina, let’s just go to class.” Christina would not have it. “No, they must be punished, this behavior is unacceptable.” If only she knew, even if I did go to the principal’s office, I don’t think he would care much. “Christina, it is alright, really am fine.” Christina took my hand and made me look at her. “I know you are strong Ianna but sometimes you need help, and this is one of those times. We must go to the principal, or they will not stop.”
I finally agreed, Christina accompanied me to the principal’s office. We knocked and we were invited in. we went inside and told the principal everything that happened. The way he was looking at me told me that he was not going to do anything.
“Come on now Ianna, are you that weak, insecure, and fragile that other kids cannot play with you? Do you want to continue being called the cursed child? because if you insist on being hostile to others then they will not stop. This here, coming to report this little incident is exactly what they mean when they call you a troublemaker and a plague. You only want to bring trouble to them when they were only playing with you.”
I shouldn’t have come; I shouldn’t have expected him to stand up for me or stop them. “But sir, that is not fair, how is it her fault? She did not ask to be bullied.” Christina was not having it. “It’s alright Christina, let’s go.” I pulled her out of the office while she was cursing.
“Hey, no need to get yourself in trouble because of me. I am grateful to have you in my life and you treat me so well. What others do to me doesn’t matter.” A tear dropped from Christina’s eyes.
IANNA’S POVMy heart broke when I saw that, I never meant to make her cry, Goddess, she has been good to me and yet now she was starting the day with tears because of me. “Oh, Ianna, I don’t know how you do it, you are so strong my friend. I don’t think I can bear any of this.”I sighed. “I bear it because I am used to it, now, let’s go to class.” She helped me fix myself and then we walked to class. When we walked in the teacher stopped and all eyes were on us.“It’s not even a week and already you are getting Christina into trouble Ianna. What exactly do you want to see happen before you understand that your presence in other’s lives is nothing but a curse?” Mrs. Laurence said. Before I could answer Christina answered first. “She did nothing wrong mam, I was the one who was feeling unwell, and she was only helping me.” Mrs. Laurence gestured for us to sit while saying under her breath. “She will be the end of you if you are not careful.”I heard her and so did Christina, but we said
IANNA’S POV“It’s time to go now, my friend.” Christina said looking breath taking in her nude dress. It sat perfectly on her curves and blended perfectly with her skin tone. “You look beautiful Christina.” She smiled at me.We walked out of my room and down the stairs. My mother was the first person to see us coming from the front door. Maybe she just sent Lissa off. “Well, I hope you know what you are doing borrowing this girl your clothes.” She looks me up and down.“Dressing up a pig will not stop it from being a pig. Remember when you lay with dogs you get up with fleas.” What she meant was that I was like a flea who transmits disease through my bite including plague. In plain English my mother was calling me a plague that was going to infect my friend if she was not careful. “Sometimes pigs and dogs are useful.” Christina said then pulled me by my arm out of the house. She then turned to me. “Please tell me that is not your mother.” I sighed. “She is my mother, but don’t blame h
IANNA’S POV“We can leave if you no longer feel like staying.” Christina my good friend said. “No, we came here to have fun and not find mates who don’t know what they want. So, let’s go have fun.” She gave the widest smile ever and I smiled back. She took my hand, and we walked back to the bonfire. There were many others around the fire laughing, talking, and drinking. I smiled feeling like I could have fun after all and forget about what happened with Jeyden. What matters is that he did not reject me, maybe because he was with Lissa that he could not say anything. We still had time. We went and stood by the others but just as we were starting to get comfortable Lissa yelled.“Ianna, why are you still here?” At that moment, the fire suddenly went out and it was pitch black. At this point, the others started to complain, "Sure enough, Ianna you are such a disaster! Such bad luck who can even put out fires just by appearing, what a devil."I was devastated and couldn't take the humilia
IANNA’POVWell, for starters, no one knew where I was, not that my mother or sister would care. But Christina would, she would not leave that party without knowing where I went. I don’t want her to worry and blame herself for bringing me to the party.“I have a friend who is waiting for me back at the party, she will be worried if I don’t show up soon. I left without telling her anything because I wanted to be alone for a while.” He nodded.“Let’s go then but I hope to see your again tomorrow with your training clothes.” I nodded looking away from him. Damn it, I think I should stay away from men, its quite clear that I cannot handle being around them.“Pay attention now, I don’t want you getting lost and not finding this place when you want to come back.” he was right, I started looking around as we walked and taking note of everything. When we got close, I saw thick black smoke and I knew we have arrived. He stopped walking, “I think you can find your way from here.” I nodded “I can
IANNA’S POV I struggled getting up from the ground and wiped the corners of my mouth that were bleeding. I looked at my mother and I only saw hatred in her eyes. It hurt to see that; I should be used to it by now, but I am not.Every child out there longs for the love of a parent which I never got; every time I wish my mother could show me some resemblance of love but each time she never does.“Mom, I never asked to be mated to Jeyden…” she cut me short so rudely. “What do you know about mates, huh? You think the Moon Goddess would bless someone like you with a good mate like the alpha’s son? How delusional.”Well, I guess she was right, Lissa was the good one, the one who deserves all the good things, and I don’t deserve anything. “You will stay away from Jeyden, and you will not tell anyone he is your mate.”What good will it do to stay away from him? The mate bond is already there, and it will keep pulling us together, what do I do then?“Mother, what do I do if…” she cuts me shor
AEGEN’S POV“This person is supposed to be my protector and be by my side at all times. But Aegen is always away from this palace, and no one knows where he goes. I would not be surprised if he is working with our enemies to bring me down.” I heard my brother the crowned prince says.“Big brother, don’t you think you are being too harsh? Aegen has always been there for you when you need him. He never complains about anything. Doesn’t he deserve to have a life of his own?” My little sister defended me, and I love her for that. but it never ends well.“Christina, you should be focusing on finding your mate or better yet, choose one from a good kingdom so that we can make a good alliance for the good of the kingdom and leave your brother be. If you follow on Aegen’s footsteps you will end up with nothing, like him.” My father said.I walked in and took my seat by my brother’s side as his protector. “Good morning,” I greeted and dished myself breakfast. “Where have you been?” father asked
IANNA’S POVBy the time I got to school on Monday everyone knew that someone had beaten me up. But the reason was that I tried to bewitch someone at the bonfire and that person beat me up badly. Some say it was Jeyden who beat me up after I tried getting close to him. Some say it was my sister Lissa who beat me up because I tried to seduce Jeyden. I did not care what any of them thought.I knew the truth and what they were saying did not matter. “Hey Ianna, is being a plague and curse not enough for you. Did you have to go seduce your sister’s boyfriend too, did you really think Jeyden would be seduced by you?” Pamela said, her friend and other students laughed. She spoke loud enough for everyone to hear. I ignored her and waited at the gate for my friend. “She is not answering because she knows the truth. If I were you, I would hide my boyfriend because it’s clear no one is safe with Ianna.”Said pamela clinging on Luka’s arm who looked like he was not enjoying that at all. I wanted
IANNA’S POVThe week went by fast, with Lissa making sure that Jeyden and I didn’t cross paths. Like on Wednesday, I saw them coming our way during lunch. As usual Christina and I were having our lunch at the football field. When Lissa saw us, she said something to Jeyden, and they turned back and left. I wanted to talk to Jeyden so badly. I wanted to know what he thought about us being mates and what he was going to do about it.I refused to believe that he was going to reject me, not after putting it off for so long and if he wanted to reject me then he would have done that by now. It’s the end of the week and he has not said anything. It did not help that Lissa was doing all she could to keep him away from me. At home, no one talks to me, I know that is not something new but this time it feels different.I almost went to find Jeyden myself yesterday, but Christina talked me out of it. She said maybe Jeyden still needed more time to think and that maybe he had not had the time to do
