Chapter 6

IANNA’S POV

In class Christina and I shocked everyone when we got back together. Sat together, talking and laughing. The last class was enjoyable and for the first time since I started school. It wasn’t all that bad.

After school Christina and I waited for her driver to pick her up then I rushed to the woods. I shifted into my wolf form and went for a run. I ran and ran then when I was tired. I went and wore my clothes then walked home.

I knew my mother was going to be angry and scold me, but I didn’t care. I was happy and nothing she could say to me today will take that away from me. “Keep it that way Ianna and all will be alright.” I stopped in my tracks and smiled hearing my wolf.

“Hello Sandra, its good to hear from you today.” She chuckled. “Oh, I could not possibly intrude, you were having so much fun with your new friend.” I smiled. “Can you believe it, someone wants to be my friend, she did not care about all the things they said to me. She even stood up for me with Lissa.”

I laughed picturing my sister’s face when Christina stood up for me and called me her friend. How priceless. “I know, I was there.” I laughed. When I appeared home my smile vanished. “Oh, no you don’t. you said you will not let them ruin your mood today.” That’s right.

I will not let them; I am so happy to let them spoil it for me. I took a deep breath before opening the door and walking inside. I could hear Lissa and my mother talking. I did not mind them. I went upstairs, changed, and went into the kitchen.

“You are getting used to coming into this house late, I am warning you Ianna, if that boy you are seeing impregnates you, I will kick you out of this house and ask the alpha to kick you out of this pack before you make things worse for everyone.” My mother said but I paid her no mind.

I took out the ingredients and started cooking dinner. “You see, she is becoming cheeky now and I am sure she spewed lies about us to that new girl at school. That is why she was mean to me today.” Mom scoffed.

“Huh, let that girl be, but soon enough, she will see what a mistake she has made.” I still ignored them since it was so hard for them to believe that someone could stand up for me because they cared about me.

After finishing dinner, I dished for them then took my plate and went to eat upstairs. After I was done, I took my bucket and went to fetch water and took my bath. When I was done, I set the alarm before going to bed.

Waking up this morning, I felt like a new person, someone with hope, something I never had in my life, and it felt good. I prepared for school and finished just on time. Just when I took a seat in the kitchen to have my breakfast Lissa walked in.

She was ready for school as well; she took an apple before Jeyden blew his horn outside and she said before hurrying out. “Better stay out of my way today.” I ignored her. I had a friend and nothing she said was going to change that.

I finished my breakfast and went to wait for the bus. By now everyone knew who I was, and they stayed away from me. I did not care though for I had a friend waiting for me at school.

The bus arrived at school, and everyone got out. Still people were standing around in groups talking before classes started. I looked around for Christina and I could not see her. I thought she was already inside.

I rushed in and there were only a few students inside the school. I went to my locker and placed my bag inside after taking the books I would need. When I turned around a group of girls was standing there.

I wanted to pass but they blocked my way. I tried again but to no avail. “Tell us, what witchcraft did you use on Christina to make her want to be friends with the likes of you?” wow, now I am a witch too.

I ignored them and tried to push past them but one of them pushed me hard and I fell with my bum on the floor. “Stand up and tell us what you did, you witch!” one bellowed. “Yeah, tell us, what potion did you use on her?” another said.

“I used nothing!” I yelled irritated by them, I stood up and dusted myself off, but another pushed me from the back, and I bumped into the ones in front of me. “Eeew!” she slapped me across the face. “You want to curse me as well, huh. How dare you bump into me.”

I was surrounded and they continued insulting me and beating me. “What the hell are you doing! Leave her alone!” Christina pushed them aside and came to stand in front of me glaring at them. “Touch her again and see what I will do. I dare you all to try me, now!” The girls shared a look then walked away.

Christina helped me up. “Are you alright Ianna? I am sorry I arrive so late.” I wondered if this is how it felt having a friend, someone to stand up for you even without knowing what has happened. “I am alright Christina.” She clicked her tongue in anger.

“Come on, let’s go to the principal’s office, he must do something about those girls, they can’t go around bullying others like this.” I shook my head. Telling on them will not help.

“No Christina, let’s just go to class.” Christina would not have it. “No, they must be punished, this behavior is unacceptable.” If only she knew, even if I did go to the principal’s office, I don’t think he would care much. “Christina, it is alright, really am fine.” Christina took my hand and made me look at her. “I know you are strong Ianna but sometimes you need help, and this is one of those times. We must go to the principal, or they will not stop.”

I finally agreed, Christina accompanied me to the principal’s office. We knocked and we were invited in. we went inside and told the principal everything that happened. The way he was looking at me told me that he was not going to do anything.

“Come on now Ianna, are you that weak, insecure, and fragile that other kids cannot play with you? Do you want to continue being called the cursed child? because if you insist on being hostile to others then they will not stop. This here, coming to report this little incident is exactly what they mean when they call you a troublemaker and a plague. You only want to bring trouble to them when they were only playing with you.”

I shouldn’t  have come; I shouldn’t have expected him to stand up for me or stop them. “But sir, that is not fair, how is it her fault? She did not ask to be bullied.” Christina was not having it. “It’s alright Christina, let’s go.” I pulled her out of the office while she was cursing.

“Hey, no need to get yourself in trouble because of me. I am grateful to have you in my life and you treat me so well. What others do to me doesn’t matter.” A tear dropped from Christina’s eyes.
