Chapter 36

AFTER SEVERAL moments, Xurden turned the page, looking at Yric. The younger guy just sat quietly while licking the chocolate that was sticking to the inner part of the wrapper with his tongue. He frowned at what he saw and shook his head when Yric shifted his attention to him. Yric felt embarrassed, so he just folded the cover and put it in the pocket of his pants. After that, he put back his eyes to the book he was reading. The storm outside was still loud. It seemed like it would not stop.

The silence that enveloped them became unbearable for Yric so the younger guy pulled the sofa closer to the table. The legs of the sofa scraped on the floor, filling the entire room. Xurden didn’t like what was happening. He gave Yric a warning with his eyes, but the younger guy ignore it. Yric was becoming more confident in testing his patience.

“Stop doing that,” he retorted. “If you can’t stay quiet, go back to your room.”
