While we were in the shower, I told Lexi what had transpired in my conversation with Alpha Gray. I was glad that she just let me talk and explain and that whenever she had a question, she would raise her hand.

So it went smoothly, except for the part when I talked about Randall.

She couldn’t believe she had befriended him and that he was there to spy on her. But no matter how careful I was about the wolfsbane, she still became hysterical.

She was not terrified for herself, but for David. I was, too, for both of them, but I wanted to believe that the worst that could happen was for my son to have a delay in shifting like Lexi. I didn’t want to entertain any thoughts other than that because if this resulted in something more, Randall and Lexi’s family would pay for my wrath.

Jace was already at the library discussing with Uncle Jacob what Gray arrogantly threatened me with. They were waiting for me to come down and tell them everything, but I had to pacify Lexi first.
