“Make her a hot drink first,” Alpha Matthew asserted in a hushed tone.

I offered a warm drink to the unexpected visitor.

After giving the girl some tea, Alpha Matthew asked, “Which school do you attend, Everly? And why did you get lost here? This is the outermost part of the Academy.”

“Um… I took the most direct route through the forest,” she murmured.

“Strange. Do you remember where your home is?” Hannah asked.

Mark was listening in on our conversation.

“Are you being honest with your testimony?” I asked, feeling suspicious. “Guards outside, won't they understand?”

“Mate, calm down. Don’t be so rough with the kids,” Alpha Matthew whispered.

“Actually, she’s not a child,” I snapped.

“Be gentle, can’t have it both ways, can we?” Alpha Matthew rose from his seat.

Dad and Mum, who heard the commotion, woke up and came over to us.

“What’s happening? Why are you still awake at this late hour?” Dad inquired.

“There’s a mysterious girl who strayed all the way here, Dad.” I replied.
