Maya

We walked into a room in the maternity ward. Jess and I were diligently following Lucas who, strangely by his standards, was dressed casually unlike Jess who thought he was doing a fashion show.

"Don’t look at me like that, May," Jess said, admonishing me.

"You’re out of line in a hospital," I said.

"But at least I have class," she replied, moving her hair behind her shoulders in a dramatic gesture.

I rolled my eyes as Lucas opened the door to the room and walked in. Jess and I followed him.

In the room, sitting on the bed there was a girl, long red hair was tied in a high tail, freckles covered her face, and blue and green eyes were pointed at Lucas the moment I entered. Next to her was an elderly woman, leaning on a stick, her eyes looking like the girl’s, caressing her back gently.

"Jess, May, this is Madison," Lucas said, introducing himself.

The girl looked at us and nodded her head, before
