I spent the next hour sitting and watching Maya, with her fabulous body, moving sinuously on the track, accompanied by Jess and Lucas. The usual trio had returned to action.

I sat in the armchairs as Devon looked down at me every time I looked at Maya, while Andrew talked quietly with his friend Matthew.

Of course, I had noticed how Matthew had set his eyes on Maya, how he had tried to approach her on the dance floor, but she didn’t seem to care, and even though I didn’t want to admit it, I was relieved. I couldn’t help feeling jealous every time I saw someone approaching her. I wanted to get up and beat each person one by one, claim what was mine, what belonged to me.

But Maya wasn’t mine, she didn't belong to me. We had fucked a few times, some fucks that had made me dizzy like never before, wanting more and more, again and again, but there had never been anything more between us.

This certainty felt like a hole in my stomach, like disappointment, knowing that sooner or later
