~Prologue~

She was like April sky, sunrise in her eyes

Child of light, shining star, fire in her heart

Brightest day, melting snow, breaking through the chill

October and April

He was like frozen sky in October night

Darkest cloud, endless storm, raining from his heart

Coldest moon, deepest blue, tearing down the spring

October and April

Like hate and love, worlds apart

This fatal love was like poison

Right from the start

Like light and dark, worlds apart

This fatal love was like poison

Right from the start

We were like loaded guns, sacrificed our lives

We were like love undone, craving to entwine

Fatal touch, final thrill, love was bound to kill

October and April (...)

Light and Darkness are usually presented as fierce enemies fighting for power over the world or the human soul. This fight is presented by various beings who, in turn, belong to one of these sides - good ones to Light, evil to Darkness. The struggle between these creatures seems to be endless, the more so as these creatures usually are at least long-lived, if not immortal. This shows exactly that the war between Light and Darkness will last as long as the world exists, or actually as long as there is a human being on it - because this struggle often lasts for his soul. Our world alone, without us, would certainly not be such a tempting trophy, especially for the darker side of this conflict.

A human himself has not only a particle of Light inside, but also Darkness, so it is often up to his decision to choose which side will win the battle. Our free will and the possession of both of these particles means that the battle between Light and Darkness never ends, and certainly not in one battle. Throughout his life, human struggles with the temptations of the Darkness, trying to live in the Light. Of course, we are assisted by its messengers, children of the Light. Angels, good spirits, sorceresses, - in religions, history and cultures of different countries there are a whole lot of different beings helping people in this hard war. There are, of course, just as many evil creatures - vampires, demons, fallen angels, werewolves... Or at least in most stories, each of them is considered rather evil creatures, children of Darkness.

But there are stories where even messengers of Light, beings who should deal better with temptation than we, weak humans, sometimes succumb to the power of the Darkness. There are also times when the children of the Darkness discover such feelings as love, which in turn draws them to the Light. Many times the being from Light connects with the one from Darkness, creating a beautiful, but always very sad and desperate love story - because in most cases neither Light nor Darkness want their representatives to mix with each other.

In these few stories that I want to tell you, this dilemma awaits you - can two hostile beings, one from Light and the other from Darkness, be connected by love? And if so, can their relationship survive in their world where the boundaries are clearly delineated, with no forbearance for any exceptions? Perhaps in their stories, surprisingly, you will find something that sometimes connects us, humans, and those supposedly alien creatures, in whose existence we sometimes do not believe? And maybe we, humans, will be able to learn something from reading these stories?
