Chapter 40; A sign of life

“So with the interrogations why are they not doing it tonight?” Eileen asked in order to be sure they hadn’t already started the investigation process.

“Most of the paramedics that rescued Cody have another emergency tonight, so the investigators are on standby” Cecily responded as they made their way to Cody’s ward.

Eileen immediately stopped in her tracks, Cecily turns to look at her.

“What’s wrong?” She asked.

“Is my crush in a very bad condition?” Eileen asked and Cecily chuckled.

“Didn’t you already consider that before stepping in here to visit?” Cecily asked. “Well we’re almost there you’ll see for yourself”

Eileen followed her to the ward, when the door opened her jaw dropped at the amount of tubes and machines strapped to his body. She began to feel like a monster, what on earth have I done to another human being. Someone’s only son, someone’s husband, the father of her child. She covered her mouth and ran out of the ward.
