I was on the bed next to mom who had just told me a story she read while I was away. I was starting to get sleepy since it was past my bedtime.
"...you should see what the doctor did to him. It was so bold and realistic" She remarked cheerfully.
"I'm glad you enjoyed the book, mom. I've never seen such an avid reader like you are" I chipped and she smiled.
"That's so sweet. I'll go join your father now. See you tomorrow, Alexandra" She whispered and kissed my forehead.
She left the bed and walked out from the room.
I smiled and snuggled under the thick duvet.
Shoot! I forgot to tell mom about getting my graduation dress - I guess that'll be tomorrow.
My phone started ringing shortly and I picked it up without glancing at the screen.

.........Alex's pov........My eyes fluttered open due to the pecking noise I heard on the window glass. I left the bed moving feebly to it.Most times, I get sensitive while sleeping so I can't go back to bed with so much pecking going on.I pulled the window handles and found a little white bird there with a wrapped note attached to it.Aww! ........Rissa's pov......Fear hit me like icy water as Mykel was taken from me. My hands and dress was covered In blood and mom kept dragging me away while I tried holding on persistently.They're taking him away. To the emergency room of course but I still felt like a part of me was been ripped off despite my protests.He wasn't breathing! An alarm rang in my mind.My Mykel wasn't breathing when we arrived.Worry snaked through me as mom sat me down on a bench forcefully.I was barely able to breath with hot tears gathering beneath my eyeballs."Rissa! .........Rissa's pov......He shook his head slowly like he was about to drop a bad news concerning Mykel."Well...unfortunately, i can't disclose what's wrong with him. He's really in a bad condition and we are yet to get through with him" He replied and I sucked in some air.He'll be fine, I'm sure."Although, I fear he won't make it, my dear" He added and my eyes flared in astonishment."Why do you say such??" He informed and mom gasped.I slumped ruefully back on the bench hearing mom sob quietly. He was awake, weak eyes by at least he was breathing and all bandaged.A tear slid from my cheek as he dropped his head sideways to we my face.I skimmed past the nurse and ran to him. With trembling arms and wobbly knees. I held his hand pathetically staring at him."They told me you wouldn't make it and that you had given up. I knew it's not possible..." I said exuberantly.He stared at me blankly like he couldn't understand what I had been saying."Why are you looking at me like that? Have you lost your memory??" I asked wide eyed and he chuckled."Rissa...I was shot on my chest not my head" He winced and I smiled warmly at him.The three nurses clustered behind me gazing at us. RissaThe dining table got so quiet and lonely that I could hear myself chewing down the pancakes.I thought I had gotten used to the loneliness. Why does it seem to affect me so much this morning???Oh! Now I get it.
