Ashina's Quest: Chapter 7
I wake up the next morning with a smile on my face. It's my seventeenth birthday! I'm not really that happy about it, because I know my heart is going to be broken, in some way today. I know I will find my mate today. Not who which of us will do the rejecting, but I know it will be one of us. Not really too crazy about that idea, but that's kinda the story of my life, so far. Why should today be any different? Am I bitter about it? Not really. It's just the way it is. I have no control over it, and I can't change it. All I can do is go with it.
I change into my leggings and sports bra and head straight to the gym. I'm well into my workout when mom and dad walk in. Dad comes walking up to me while I'm doing some pullups with my legs in front of me. He said, "Your mother did those the first time I tried to work out with her. That's when I knew her core strength had to be harder than mine. I couldn't keep up." I laughed as I finished that one and got down from the pull up bar.<

I shifted back and said, "He's not going to able to talk coherently until morning, at least. Let's enjoy the party for tonight." It took another forty-five minutes to get to the castle. I was ready to get out and stretch when Conri parked the vehicle.
