29: Is she really doing well?

In that photograph, Lizzie snuggled into the arms of another man, her sweet smile — a smile he thought should only be for him — lighting up her face. In just one year, he had endured the longing for her, all so they could grow old together. But when he returned, things had changed. They had become two parallel lines, never to intersect again.

Was she really happy? Could he believe what she had told him?

"I need to see her and find out if she’s doing well." Jacob couldn't let go. Even if he had to, he needed to verify if the woman he loved was truly happy.

Ruoya shook her head, "Jacob, I just returned to the country too. How would I know where she lives? The Kolo family has numerous villas and apartments. How could I possibly know?" Even if she did, she wouldn’t tell him. She wished the two of them would never meet again.

Jacob sat down on the sofa, exhausted. He closed his eyes and rubbed his temples. Ruoya poured him a fresh cup of tea, "Jacob, have some tea first."
