Naomi's POV
When I heard the knock on my door early in the morning. I had a bad feeling about it. What could be so urgent that would make anyone knock on my door? Plus, I haven't started making friends yet. The friends I left here five years ago don't count. They were wolves in sheep's clothes. My eyes were puffy from the lack of sleep last night. I had to stay awake to update my books for my fans. I hate missing the deadlines I set for myself. The knock came again making me grumble while standing from my bed. This was my those extremely rich people have maids. Maybe I might also end up employing one or two help. The workload was too much for me.Immediately I opened the door, I almost shut it back but Ricky placed his leg on the door. Plus, I had a lot of respect for him. He was there for me when my so-called husband abandoned me. Not that he had always been there for me."Good morning, Nao. Sorry to wake you up," he flashed me a smile which I couldn't help but return then faced Derrick to glare at him. But with the boyish grin on his face, it was difficult to glare at him, so I averted my gaze. The guy sure knows how to make me annoyed. Even with just a smile."You can come in," I told Ricky but already knew Derrick would tag along. I wish I was that heartless to push him out of the door and shut the door to his face. This time with much more confidence. But wishes were not horses. So, I was stuck with two grown men invading my privacy. Thankfully my son was still asleep and I wouldn't want him to meet any of them. I hope they leave before he wakes up. Ricky moved to the sofa and sat down while Derrick moved from wall to wall inspecting it like he was in his house.I sat opposite Ricky, "Can you tell your friend to sit down and stop inspecting my house." I made sure to emphasise the word my house. He smiled and finally sit down beside me. I stood up and sat on the opposite chair. He smirked. "Really, smooth."I ignored him. Gone are the days I would listen and do what I was told. I am my person now."what will you like to drink?" Just as earlier, my question was directed to Ricky but Derrick decided to answer too. I don't know if he doesn't get the message or if he was trying to piss me off. For my sake, I was hoping, he could just leave me alone.I went back to the kitchen but then I started hearing a low whispered voice. Probably Ricky telling Derrick not to annoy me. I went to check on Dean but he was still fast asleep. I closes the door gently and then went back to the sitting room. I dropped the juice and crossed my arm on my chest to make myself more intimidating.Derrick was looking at my breast and I tried to cover it. Tried because his gaze left there and focused on my face which made me much more uncomfortable. "How can I help you?"Ricky cleared his throat, "Nao, I know I don't have the right to ask anything of you but I would love it if you do just one thing for me."I raised a brow."Please, just listen to what he has said. Then you can decide whatever you want?"I pointed a finger at Derrick, "You want me to listen to someone who doesn't understand what listening means.""But..." Derrick tried to say but Ricky glared at him."I know he has offended you and it's okay if you are angry forever but I just want you to listen to whatever he has to say. So that you won't have any regret," he said. "I know it's been five years since we last saw each other and I know nothing about you or whatever you are going through, that's why I am pleading to you."I sighed. The only reason I would listen to him was not that he was pleading with me but because he was there for me when no one did. He pleaded with Derrick to listen to me when everyone threw me out. So, this will be my payback for what he did for me then."Okay. All because of you. I will listen to him."He started getting up. "Let me excuse you then."And leave me with Derrick alone. No. I won't survive staying alone with the guy."No. You can wait and listen too."Derrick raised a brow, "Are you afraid of being alone with me?"That. That was exactly the reason I don't want to be alone with him. He was too cocky and he knew my weak points. Our marriage might not be rosy but the sex was good. In fact, too good. Dean was the proof but there was no way I was letting him know I had his son."I don't want to invade your privacies." Before I could say anything else, he walked out of the house leaving Derrick and me in a staring competition. The way he was looking at me made me want to hide from him. He started at him like he was trying to capture my image and keep it in his head. After minutes of starting with no words, I finally spoke."Are you going to say what you have to say or are you going to leave my house?"He chuckled. For goodness sake, I couldn't fathom what was funny enough to warrant him chuckling."Sorry. I am just not used to this Naomi.""What Naomi?"He stood up moving closer to me. "You know, the Naomi bold enough to shut her door to my face. The Naomi brave enough to give me a response. The Naomi who wasn't willing to please me. It's kind of difficult to know that they were the same person."I hissed, "Can you just go to the point and get this done with?"I hope my voice was as strong as I was imagining it."I am sorry, Naomi."Did he really said that or was I hearing wrong? This was the first time I was hearing Derrick apologize. I don't know what to feel or say but the apology was five years late."Please can you leave now?"He was moving closer to me. Then was when I heard Dean's voice."Mummy, who is this?"Derrick's POV"Mummy, who is this?" Immediately I heard the voice, I turned to look where it was coming from. A cute little boy walked in rubbing his face like he just woke up from sleep. Naomi jumped up from her chair to face the boy. It was the fastest I have ever seen her jumping. It was as if her seat was on fire. She tried to cover him with her figure, not that I am complaining because she has a nice figure. One that I have missed so badly, and would love to have my hands all over sooner than later. She mumbled something to the boy not wanting me in their conversation. First, I was pissed off but then I remember I was still trying to get her to forgive me. So, I was quiet. The little boy grumbled before moving back to the direction he was coming from without looking back. She tried pulling her clothes down properly and let out a relieved sigh. I was no fool, so I know something was off, and that something had to do with the boy that just left. Immediately she sat down, sh
Naomi's POVChapter SevenI shut the door and rested on it. The only words ringing in my ears are, you are always in my dreams. How could he say that to me? How could he try to make me feel as if I was important to him? Like he missed me? I knew what he was trying to do. He was trying to play games to get me back in his bed, treat me like trash and dispose of me whenever he was tired of having me. But, I won't give him the satisfaction of that. Dean moved closer to me. "Mummy, are you okay?'I nodded, pulling him closer to me. He hugged me quietly and I thank God he was in my life. He was the only thing I got out of my marriage to Derrick that gives me joy and that was why I am hiding him from anyone that would see the resemblance he had with the Boone. Honestly, I am surprised Derrick was unable to identify him soon but it's all for my benefit. After soaking him in for a few minutes, Dean got tired of hugging me, so he released himself from me. " Mummy, should we call Emily?"He di
Chapter Eight Derrick's POV"What do you think children like?"Diana paused the movie she was watching on Netflix to stare at me. She stared too long that I had no option but to ask her what was wrong. "What did you just ask me?"I sighed, she knew I hate repeating myself and that was exactly what she wanted me to do. Repeat what I just said. If it wasn't so important to me, I would have ignored her to do something else but I needed to know this so that I can capture Naomi's son's heart. Then I can finally capture Naomi's heart too, which is the only thing I can think of. It's not that I love her, I am just addicted to her maybe because we have once been married. All I know was I want her back and I was going to do everything I can to have her back even if I have to repeat myself to my dumb sister. "I said, what do you think children like?" this time I glared at her indicating that I won't repeat myself anymore. She smiled, "Why do you want to know that? Why do you think I w
Naomi's POV"Who are you?" Emily's voice was loud. I ran out of my study room to the door. Dean was hot behind me trying to be the man of the house. I found it funny and cute whenever he acts that way. "What's wrong Emily?" Her back was turned to me and she was blocking whoever was at the other side of the door. The way she placed her on her hips showed that she was having a heated argument with whoever it was at the other side of the door. It was Dean that finally got her attention. She allowed Dean to stand beside her while ignoring my question. That did nothing but raise my curiosity. Who can be annoying Emily already on her first day?"What are you doing in our house?" I heard Dean's question and I know that I already knew who was by the door. I smiled. My avengers were fighting for me. "Can I come in first and where is Naomi? I would prefer speaking to her than to some stranger." Derrick's voice was harsh. I could easily tell that he was angry but for some reason. That ma
Derrick's POV"Let's get married."Naomi looked shocked at first but then she started laughing. She laughed until she had to support herself with the Sofa. I had no idea what was so funny to make her laugh so hard but I was serious. So I waited for her to finish laughing, so we can have a serious conversation. After a while, she finally seemed tired of laughing. She sat on the sofa and glared at me. "Are you kidding me right now?" I shook my head."Why would I want to marry you again? Why would I want to put myself in such misery again?"What misery? I know we didn't marry for love like a lot of couples but our relationship was that of mutual understanding. I know my grandmother had forced her to marry me or maybe bought her to marry me but we were having fun. I mean the sex was so good. "What misery? We were happy together. You have all that you wanted. There were maids at your beck and call. They were servants. All you just do is stay indoors to satisfy your husband. A lot of wo
Naomi's POVMarry him again. Marry him AGAIN!That had to be the worst joke I have ever heard. The first time was a mistake and there was no way I will ever be willing to be in a relationship with Derrick again. Even if I was forced again. I won't marry him. Emily was silent beside me. I guess she knew what was going on in my head. "What do you guys do for fun here?" She said with a forced smile. "Dean! Dean!"Soon, Dean's small feet sound was heard in the house. I tried getting my mind off Derrick's impromptu proposal and focused on Dean that was pouting in front of me. "Will you go out?"He nodded. "What about mummy? Is she going too?"He looks expectedly at me. The last thing I wanted at that moment was to go out. I just want to go inside, curl on my bed and watch a movie or read a novel. Something that would take me away from the reality I was living. Dean knew I was mostly indoors whenever he went out with Emily. Yet, he gave me his puppy look. My favourite one. The one I a
Naomi's POVDesmond was feeling himself. He took us to a private spot and ordered what he referred to as the best delicacy in town. I was not touched or buttered up. I just want to go home and have a lovely night; which consists of having junk food and probably a nice erotic novel in my lap. I have successfully exhausted my going-out bundle. Emily on the other hand was having fun. She smiled at everything Desmond did and made a show of dragging me into their conversation. Even when he was saying what I considered boring, she laughed too hard, clutching her stomach as if she was in pain from laughing a lot. I know all of her tricks and I wasn't moved at that moment. She was trying to set me up with this stranger. Someone we just met, not up to two hours. I wasn't that desperate for a man in my life. The things in front of Dean were the only thing he cares for at that moment. He was out of our world and focusing mainly on the things he had plans to finish from the way he was demolishi
Derrick’s POVAssociating with others was definitely the last thing on my mind. I had thought it was an opportunity for me to rid my mind of Naomi but with the way, I keep thinking about how. I can clearly say it was futile. There was no need to hide it, everything about the party was boring. I was not feeling too good about listening to what anyone had to say. I just wanted to go home or maybe see Naomi. It looked as if I have been infected with a virus known as Naomi’s virus.“Do you need more drinks, dear?” Sharon’s voice brought me out of my thoughts. The night was definitely not going my way. When I asked my assistant to call Sharon as my escort. I thought she would be able to steer my thought away from Naomi a bit. In Naomi’s absence, the only woman whose arm I had found little comfort in was Sharon’s but now it felt like every other lady’s arm to me. “I think I am okay.”“Are you sure?” She was trying to sit on my legs now. If it was any other day, I would have gladl
