When I heard Derrick had returned to the club, I didn’t believe it at first. Everyone knew how he was hanged over Naomi, and he suddenly changed after she came back to town, so I gave up on going to the club to get his attention.

There was no use; he was never there in the first place. He was too busy going over to Naomi to see any other person, and I didn’t see the need to hang onto a man who barely had time for me. I had almost given up on becoming Mrs. Boone until Naomi came over to my party to make that mess. It was embarrassing but also an eye-opener that she was finally having issues with Derrick and my opportunity to get him.
