Naomi's P.O.V
Settling down wasn't as easy as I expected. I enrolled Dean in one of the best schools and I picked a room in my house to be my office.Yes, I worked from home. I was a writer and freelancer. My gift for writing had always been with me since when I was little but I couldn't utilise it. That didn't stop me from reading a lot and jotting down on paper. When I was with my ex-husband, I was not expected to go out or do anything. My only duty was to warm his bed whenever he pleases. I was mostly bored doing nothing. The maids took care of cleaning the house and also preparing food. Most of my time was spent in the library, and it was a big library with varieties of books. It was the only thing I missed in the house. After reading lots of books, I decided to start writing mine one day. I wrote a lot of fan fiction for books I didn't like the ending and I also change the life of characters that I think deserved better. From writing fan fiction, I switched to writing original stories but none of the family knew about this. I was supposed to be invisible but if they found out I was writing or doing anything productive, I would be punished.Although, my ex-husband was mostly absent then but the only thing he likes about me for my sex. He always wanted more from me and that made me feel like a sex toy. His grandmother married me to him and was the only one who cared for me a bit but she was too old to fight for me. And when she died, the house was a living hell.Anyways, after my divorce, I started posting my work online and doing freelancing jobs. I was lucky to quicky gain followed and fans and my book became popular under a pen name. I wasn't ready to show my real name to the world. That was how I was able to raise my status from poor to rich. I am not as rich as the Boone's but I wasn't the poor girl they once knew.I was setting my books in my library when I heard the bell ring. I dropped the book so fast and ran to open the door. I was expecting my car to be delivered today as it was too tiresome doing errands on leg and the neighbour requires I have at least a car unless I might become the poor girl again. Something I vowed never to be again. The smile on my face erased at the face starting back at me when I opened the door. Of course, he was as devilishly handsome as he was five years ago. All my curses to the gods to make him ugly definitely didn't work. He wore a smile of his face and I couldn't help but admire how good he looks. Just because I hate him didn't mean I would deny his good looks.I tried shutting the door on him but he sticks his leg out to stop it."Listen to me, Naomi."I hissed. Now he wants me to listen to him. I said the same word to him five years ago with tears especially when I discovered I was pregnant but did he listen.No.I even tried to tell him about our baby but to him, I did not deserve his attention then.'How did you find out where I live?"He smirked, "Oh Naomi you know me. I have my resources."Just as arrogant as he had always been. If he thought I will cower as I used to he had something else coming his way."Well, It was not nice meeting you Derick."He looked hooked and before he could recover. I shut the door to his face. Good riddance.Derick Boone was my ex-husband and the man I fell in love with but treated me like trash because I was poor.Seeing him did something to my heart and I stood behind the door gasping for air inwardly and congratulating myself for standing up to him. it took all of my courage not to cower in front of him. After calming myself down, I walked to Dean's room. He was impersonating what the cartoons are doing on the Television. I smiled at him."Dean."He turned and came to hug me. "Mummy."I pulled my phone out, "Let's talk to Emily."He shouted jumping up and down. "Yes. Yes. I want to talk with Emily. I want to see Emily."I pulled him on my leg while sitting on his bed. I made a video call to Emily who picked up on the first ring."Hello, my beautiful bestie." She said. Her face wasn't clear on the video yet, so she adjusted herself well and when she saw Dean on my leg, she shouted. "And my lovely charming sweet little prince. How are you?"Dean giggled, "I am fine, princess. I missed you."I smiled at their nickname for one another. He was the prince and she was the princess."I miss you too, my prince charming." she cooed.I was obviously the third party in this conversation."I have new toys. Plenty of toys and also I have a new room. My room is big and colourful. come fast so that I can show you. I will also show you my teddy and PJ masks and my soldiers. my car and my bicycle..." he continued listing the numerous things he wanted to show her while she listen carefully like it was the most important conversation she ever had. After listing everything to his satisfaction. He asked when she was coming."Very soon, My prince. Very soon."I also missed her so I asked, "How soon is very soon?""I am just trying to finish something over here after that I am coming for you both. And I won't leave even if you both get tired of me.""We can never be tired of you. We miss you so much."Dean seemed to know that his conversation with her was done. He moved out of my leg and laid on the bed watching his show.I excused myself and went to my room."I want to tell you something. Derrick came here today."She frowned, "How? Why? How did he discover you are back?"I sighed, "I have no idea. I mean, I didn't think I will see him that soon and definitely not in my own house."with wide eyes, she asked, "And what did you do to him. Don't tell me you allowed him inside but I know you have a soft spot for the man."She was right. I had a soft spot for Derrick but I won't allow him to to treat me like trash again. I am above that. I have millions of people following my works online.I bit my lower lips, "I shut the door to his face."She let out what I tagged her wicked laugh while I imagined get holding something while laughing."I am proud of you girl. I wish I could have seem his face. it would have been totally priceless."Sometimes Emily was so wicked but she was so nice to me and Dean that I have no complaints. Whoever sees her other side deserves it."Do you think he will come again?"I don't think I can handle him again like I did if he ever decided to come again. He will make it easier for us both if he stays as far away as he can from us."I am sure he will come again. you need to get prepared."Derrick's POVShe shut the door in my face. Naomi fucking shut the door on my face. It was so hard to believe. I stood outside the door for ten minutes before driving back home. My sister, Diana sat on a chair blowing out bubbles from her gum. Without giving a second glance, I moved to the bar and poured myself a drink. I drank all at once and pour another. Naomi who wouldn't dare to look me in the face twice shut the door to my face. It seemed unbelievable. The drink was hot and cool my nerves a bit. Yes, I was expecting her to be aggressive but I wasn't expecting her to shut the freaking door on my face. It's been five years since she last saw me. I was expecting her to welcome me and maybe have a decent conversation. Then I can start persuading her to marry me back. I already did my investigation immediately after she came back and I know for certain that she was not married. "Bro, calm down. Are you trying to get yourself drunk?" Diana said. I raised my brow and they were tw
Naomi's POVWhen I heard the knock on my door early in the morning. I had a bad feeling about it. What could be so urgent that would make anyone knock on my door? Plus, I haven't started making friends yet. The friends I left here five years ago don't count. They were wolves in sheep's clothes. My eyes were puffy from the lack of sleep last night. I had to stay awake to update my books for my fans. I hate missing the deadlines I set for myself. The knock came again making me grumble while standing from my bed. This was my those extremely rich people have maids. Maybe I might also end up employing one or two help. The workload was too much for me. Immediately I opened the door, I almost shut it back but Ricky placed his leg on the door. Plus, I had a lot of respect for him. He was there for me when my so-called husband abandoned me. Not that he had always been there for me. "Good morning, Nao. Sorry to wake you up," he flashed me a smile which I couldn't help but retu
Derrick's POV"Mummy, who is this?" Immediately I heard the voice, I turned to look where it was coming from. A cute little boy walked in rubbing his face like he just woke up from sleep. Naomi jumped up from her chair to face the boy. It was the fastest I have ever seen her jumping. It was as if her seat was on fire. She tried to cover him with her figure, not that I am complaining because she has a nice figure. One that I have missed so badly, and would love to have my hands all over sooner than later. She mumbled something to the boy not wanting me in their conversation. First, I was pissed off but then I remember I was still trying to get her to forgive me. So, I was quiet. The little boy grumbled before moving back to the direction he was coming from without looking back. She tried pulling her clothes down properly and let out a relieved sigh. I was no fool, so I know something was off, and that something had to do with the boy that just left. Immediately she sat down, sh
Naomi's POVChapter SevenI shut the door and rested on it. The only words ringing in my ears are, you are always in my dreams. How could he say that to me? How could he try to make me feel as if I was important to him? Like he missed me? I knew what he was trying to do. He was trying to play games to get me back in his bed, treat me like trash and dispose of me whenever he was tired of having me. But, I won't give him the satisfaction of that. Dean moved closer to me. "Mummy, are you okay?'I nodded, pulling him closer to me. He hugged me quietly and I thank God he was in my life. He was the only thing I got out of my marriage to Derrick that gives me joy and that was why I am hiding him from anyone that would see the resemblance he had with the Boone. Honestly, I am surprised Derrick was unable to identify him soon but it's all for my benefit. After soaking him in for a few minutes, Dean got tired of hugging me, so he released himself from me. " Mummy, should we call Emily?"He di
Chapter Eight Derrick's POV"What do you think children like?"Diana paused the movie she was watching on Netflix to stare at me. She stared too long that I had no option but to ask her what was wrong. "What did you just ask me?"I sighed, she knew I hate repeating myself and that was exactly what she wanted me to do. Repeat what I just said. If it wasn't so important to me, I would have ignored her to do something else but I needed to know this so that I can capture Naomi's son's heart. Then I can finally capture Naomi's heart too, which is the only thing I can think of. It's not that I love her, I am just addicted to her maybe because we have once been married. All I know was I want her back and I was going to do everything I can to have her back even if I have to repeat myself to my dumb sister. "I said, what do you think children like?" this time I glared at her indicating that I won't repeat myself anymore. She smiled, "Why do you want to know that? Why do you think I w
Naomi's POV"Who are you?" Emily's voice was loud. I ran out of my study room to the door. Dean was hot behind me trying to be the man of the house. I found it funny and cute whenever he acts that way. "What's wrong Emily?" Her back was turned to me and she was blocking whoever was at the other side of the door. The way she placed her on her hips showed that she was having a heated argument with whoever it was at the other side of the door. It was Dean that finally got her attention. She allowed Dean to stand beside her while ignoring my question. That did nothing but raise my curiosity. Who can be annoying Emily already on her first day?"What are you doing in our house?" I heard Dean's question and I know that I already knew who was by the door. I smiled. My avengers were fighting for me. "Can I come in first and where is Naomi? I would prefer speaking to her than to some stranger." Derrick's voice was harsh. I could easily tell that he was angry but for some reason. That ma
Derrick's POV"Let's get married."Naomi looked shocked at first but then she started laughing. She laughed until she had to support herself with the Sofa. I had no idea what was so funny to make her laugh so hard but I was serious. So I waited for her to finish laughing, so we can have a serious conversation. After a while, she finally seemed tired of laughing. She sat on the sofa and glared at me. "Are you kidding me right now?" I shook my head."Why would I want to marry you again? Why would I want to put myself in such misery again?"What misery? I know we didn't marry for love like a lot of couples but our relationship was that of mutual understanding. I know my grandmother had forced her to marry me or maybe bought her to marry me but we were having fun. I mean the sex was so good. "What misery? We were happy together. You have all that you wanted. There were maids at your beck and call. They were servants. All you just do is stay indoors to satisfy your husband. A lot of wo
Naomi's POVMarry him again. Marry him AGAIN!That had to be the worst joke I have ever heard. The first time was a mistake and there was no way I will ever be willing to be in a relationship with Derrick again. Even if I was forced again. I won't marry him. Emily was silent beside me. I guess she knew what was going on in my head. "What do you guys do for fun here?" She said with a forced smile. "Dean! Dean!"Soon, Dean's small feet sound was heard in the house. I tried getting my mind off Derrick's impromptu proposal and focused on Dean that was pouting in front of me. "Will you go out?"He nodded. "What about mummy? Is she going too?"He looks expectedly at me. The last thing I wanted at that moment was to go out. I just want to go inside, curl on my bed and watch a movie or read a novel. Something that would take me away from the reality I was living. Dean knew I was mostly indoors whenever he went out with Emily. Yet, he gave me his puppy look. My favourite one. The one I a
