Chapter 91

Shila had been at Emily's house for thirty minutes, and they were silent without saying anything. Jeffry had deliberately left them alone so they could spend time together because both Emily and Shila must have missed each other in the past when they could freely talk without being disturbed by anyone.

However, Emily was silent. She didn't say a word, and Shila realized the strangeness of her friend.

"Em, what's going on? You don't seem to be in the best of spirits when I can hear your cheerful voice on the phone. Did something happen between you and Jeffry?" Shila asked, half-whispering so Jeffry wouldn't hear what they were talking about.

Emily shook her head, looking weak and uncharacteristic. She then sighed and couldn't bear to bury the problem that had managed to occupy her attention since earlier.

"Shila, how long have you known Jeffry?" Emily asked, making her best friend frown. "I mean, did you know about his family and character before I knew him?"
