Panicked, she gently shook Derek, calling his name with increasing urgency. "Derek, wake up! Are you okay?" She pressed her hand against his forehead, feeling the heat radiating from his skin. "You're burning up! We need to get you to a doctor."

Rebecca entered. "Charlotte, what’s wrong? I heard you screaming," she said, looking at Derek. "Oh, no."

"Rebecca! He’s burning up; he has a fever. We need to get him to a doctor!"

" I will get you some ice water and a towel," she said, running out without waiting for Charlotte’s response.
