Chapter 17 (part 2)

Adam woke up around 3 a.m.; it had taken all the stamina he had to knock Shàng Wèi out. He felt somewhat debilitated, but he had a mission to accomplish. First, he checked that the man lying next to him was fast asleep, then went back into the living room.

His mobile phone lay on the floor near the window. Shàng Wèi must have dropped it during the first assault.

Adam picked it up and typed in the pin code. Fortunately, he had managed to peek at it the morning they had gone to Kan Te. Of course, he looked at the messages and e-mails first, but nothing was strange or shocking.

The address book didn't seem to contain any alarming numbers either. All he had to do was look at the call log. The last number that had called him had an area code of +44, the British legend. It certainly wasn't the number of the security agency he had reached the day before, nor was it Shéngli's because the numbers didn't match.
