"I'm sorry, Jett." Our family lawyer surrendered and sighed. "You know the madam's last will cannot be revoked. It's a genuine and notarized will. My power is limited in this situation."

I gritted my teeth. "But it's an absurd will! How the hell is that kind of will even be allowed?"

He only shook his head again. Mama's last will is unbelievably ridiculous. I can't believe she didn't tell me about this when she was still alive. I needed to be wed for a year first before being able to claim her assets. Bullshit!

And this was approved by American law? Another bullshit!

Grunting, I mumbled, "American law is hilarious."

When I consulted Old Barry about it, he only laughed and said, "Well, you should go on and find a wife."

"What? I'm saying I need suggestions on how to get the fortune without doing the will!" Then I paused and studied his face. Puzzled, I asked, "You're not in on this too, right?"

He chewed his grapes slowly. "I was one of the witnesses of the madam's last will."
