"Did you have a tough childhood?"

I shrugged. "It was tougher than normal, but I still loved my childhood. My family was complete and I was happy once in a while. But I would not want to go back to that time in my life, because no matter how lovely it was, it was also the worst time in my life."

I reminisced about the past and shuddered at the thought of having to experience all those traumatic events again. I did not want to go back to that hell. Never again.

I released a heavy exhale and grinned at her. "Enough about me, how about you? Mind telling me stories from your childhood?"

She shrugged and lightly kicked the sand. She kept her gaze down as she spoke. "My parents were both cops, which means they're always on duty. I never really had any good memories of them. But I know that my Father was an aggressive and cruel man, who never saw me as a kid making mistakes. It was like he always saw me as a junior cadet, not his child."
