Chapter Twenty Three
It was Monday, three days after Leonard was nowhere to be found that Maisie was void of enthusiasm and entirely depressed. She still didn't have any idea where to start looking for her five year old brother. It was too sudden; a moment she was talking to him, planning to amuse him with a tech skate and even grab a coffee before heading home, and the next moment, she was wailing and searching about for him.
Her parents didn't have any idea though, any time they wanted to talk to their baby - and his friend, Micheal - Amaya offered to do it, went up to her room then came down with false tales that ate her up with remorse about how Leonard was enjoying Michael's place and how they'd played peekaboo or tic tac toe.
Amaya took the sticky note with her everywhere she went - the kitchen, bathroom and virtually everywhere. The sticky note's content had:

My heart was drumming against my ribcage and my head throbbing against my skull as I dashed down the dark, wooden stairs.
