Kierra's POV
I wasn't emotionally ready for what I saw yesterday. When I saw him, I think my heart stopped beating back there. I had seen someone who was supposed to be dead. "But how?" I asked myself.
Was I given the wrong information then? It had to be, I shook Aden's hands yesterday. He was standing right in front of me. He was real.
I couldn't forget the way he looked at me yesterday. I have never felt so weak under someone's gaze. The way he called my name was so natural and sweet. Did he know I had applied to work in his firm? He didn't look surprised to see me.
I hope I get to see him alone and ask him questions I need to find answers to. He had to explain to me what triggered and who helped spread the rumor of his death.
And most importantly, he might have had an idea or must have heard stories related to my family's demise. I could use his help to search for answers.
But I had to stop myself from thinking we were going to be as close as we were in the past…
"Kierra, Aden is your boss now, so you shouldn't be too free with him." I reckoned
" You have to watch him to find out if he is still the same sweet boy he was ten years ago," I advised myself.
Sleeping has become like a hard chore since yesterday. He was occupying my thoughts. I didn't plan for this, not after one week of traveling back to Kenvy.
Aden and I were always together in school or we were with his best friend Cassel.
When I first transferred to the school, I made no friends immediately.
It was after two terms in the school that I got close to Aden and Cassel. But before we became friends. I had always had eyes for him.
I sat in front of the glass, he sat behind the class. Whenever other kids went around causing one problem or the other, Aden was on his seat quietly reading a book or he would be talking to Cassel—his friend.
He was the first male student I noticed, right from my first day but I pretended not to notice him. It was hard not to notice, it was really hard.
My first physical contact with Aden was when we went to a camp our class organized. He got lost in the woods and I helped his friend Cassel find him. Cassel introduced me to Aden and that was how we gradually grew to like each other.
He was quite handsome even at sixteen, with a set of red eyes that confirmed he was indeed going to be the Alpha one day. Just like his dad. His hair was as dark as the night sky. He had features you couldn't ignore.
I can remember vividly there was this senior student who beat up Cassel. That student's name was Mike. He was a notorious kid in school and a bully.
Aden got furious when he saw Cassel —his friend, injured and in pain. He went after Mike and gave him the beating of his life. Mike was much older and taller than Aden, but Aden wiped his ass.
It was indeed a pleasant sight, seeing a calm and cool boy turned into a fighter to defend his friend. At that moment I believed Aden had a pure heart.
My first kiss with Aden was on my birthday when I turned sixteen, two months before my world fell apart.
He told me he had a present for me and instructed me to meet him at our usual meeting place— Kenvy Central Park.
We met at the park, and he asked me to follow him to a place. He said he wanted to show me something. We got to a place where we began climbing a highland. In this spot, one could see the entire city of Kenvy.
"It's beautiful from up here," I told him
" You should see it during winter, it's more beautiful, " he replied.
I never knew a place like that existed in Kenvy. It seems he likes visiting this place. He told me we could come here more often to spend more time together and I agreed.
He brought out a pearl from a jewelry box that glowed in the moonlight and told me to turn around while he put it around my neck.
"It was beautiful," he complimented.
But I told him I couldn't see how gorgeous it looked on my neck. He said he got it covered.
He quickly brought out a little mirror. He was a thoughtful guy.
I know it must have cost a fortune, but I had to turn it down even though it was beautiful. He insisted I should keep it. I smiled at him and appreciated the gift.
It was during this moment he chose to kiss me for the first time. I was caught off guard. But that was the best feeling in my life. He told me he loved me. I couldn't say a word after his love declaration.
I was delighted to hear this but disturbed as well. I told him I was scared to love him too.
" Why are you scared, Kierra," he asked
" What if after a few years, or even at this moment, you find your mate? What becomes of us?" I asked worried
"That's simple. I will reject her. It's you or no one." He hugged me
I haven't looked back, ever since. I agreed to love him unconditionally. Until I was forced to run away from Kenvy and heard the terrible news of his passing.

"Good morning Miss Kierra, hope you had a great night." The receptionist greeted me while I walked past her.
I answered her and thought to myself. " Huh, Great night. yeah, she could say that"
Sincerely I was happy, after a long time. Something in me felt alive. But a thought told me not to be too excited.
What if he had found a mate and he was married now?
"What will you do, Kierra"
I pushed out the thought
" But he said he would reject her," I was trying to reassure myself.
Why was I trying to get my hopes high? I needed to be realistic.
He made this promise to me before I left Kenvy. And ten years is a long time to wait for somehow.
Sensing that I was getting too excited for nothing, from happiness, I turned sad.
"Kierra, don't let your guard down. Your mission here is to find answers not to fix your broken love life" I warned myself.
"Ooh you are here already," Menessa asked as I stepped out of the elevator and into the walkway to my office.
It seemed she had been waiting for me. Was surprised to see her waiting outside her office with her back resting on her office door.
"Good morning Menessa, is anything the matter" I walked toward her
"Were you waiting for me?" I asked
"No, not me," she said with a smile.
"Then who is," I asked
"The Boss—Alpha Aden" Menessa uttered.
Aden's POV Back in the woods. I felt that we were being watched. I could hear a person's heartbeat but it was faint. The person must have been watching us from afar and the tall trees gave whoever it was a perfect shield. We were on our way back home when we heard an almost deafening sound. It was the car tires. "What the heck was that," Cassel yelled "I think we just stepped on corks" uncle Tim responded Before we knew what was happening our car went off the road. Uncle Tim was trying to bring the situation under control by driving the car to a safe spot. "Hey guys, I think we have got company," Brad yelled from behind the truck A dozen guys came after us. Before we could get out of the car. They were already onto us. I couldn't understand why these guys were charging at us. Then I remembered the faint heartbeat I heard in the woods. A thought crossed me " Seems the person spying on us in the woods has alerted the others" The three of us got out of the car to get ready to f
Aden's POV It's been a long time since I was involved in a fight. The last fight I had was with the Borgn's clan beta Brad. He challenged me to a fight a year ago and I defeated him. I was almost made the Beta of the clan then, but I turned it down. I told Alpha Carl it wasn't my ambition. Brad was a narrow-minded guy, he had a temper that made him blind to see reasons whenever he was angry. Many say he isn't worthy of being a Beta because of some of his scandalous habits. He was a great gambler. People say he started gambling and drinking after he lost his father. Although his mom is alive and well. Instead of getting worked up by her son's attitude she usually spends her day at the clinic. His father was the beta to the Borgn clan before he died and his mum was a nurse, a salutary werewolf (a herbal wolf that takes care of the ill and injured). Brad's father died when he was seventeen. It was an unfortunate incideng. One faithful day, the Borgn Clan were attacked by rogue w
Kierra's POVAs I walked toward the Boss's office my heart was beating so fast. It seemed like it was going to explode."Be calm Kierra. It's probably just a harmless meeting" I encouraged myself In my wildest dream I never knew I would be faced with such a circumstance—Seeing Aden again face to face. I don't think I have enough courage to contain both my excitement and disbelief. "What was he going to say? What will I say? Should I hug him to show how relieved I am that he's alive? Will he want us back as we used to? What if he has a mate now?" These questions ran through my mind. Another thought came to me, it sounded like the werewolf part of me was warning me." Kierra, you don't need to show those emotions. You will look too cheap and will make it seem you are drooling over him. Keep your shoulders high. By the way, you need to be angry instead of being happy. If he was alive all these years why didn't he search for you. I doubt if he loves you anymore"I kept a neutral face
Aden's POV"Let me go…""Or I'll kill you all"She made an awful screech the moment I blew garlic powder at her.She was calm at once, her vampire traits were making it difficult for us to control her. Her body was still not used to the changes taking place. It was obvious she was hungry for blood. It's been four days since we captured her from the woods. The rogue werewolf was also under captivity and apprehended in a cell. He has refused to say a word.Alpha Carl has decided to hold the interrogation today. We observed that Mary usually has a switch in personality. She becomes wild when her vampire instinct is dominant and she becomes more friendly when her wolf instinct is dominant. It was a battle between two powerful traits.Mary goes out of control whenever she craves blood. That was why she attacked us back in the woods, we met her in a wild state. Hunger! It's very possible the blood she might have gotten from her sister's body and other small animals she could find may not
Kierra's POV "You should have stayed back" The stranger's words were ringing in my head. I needed to meet this man again. The sense of trying to figure out what he knew, what secrets were lurking around was eating me up. I knew I was special. My uncle always mentions it. But he warned me to try to be normal as best as possible. When I was eight I discovered I could lift a rock the size of our house with my bare hands. I could cause a tree to fall by just striking its trunk. I could run very fast and at eleven, shockingly I could absorb another wolf's energy making me even more powerful. Uncle said I have these powers because I am a Primordial werewolf. In fact, I am the last of them. He never spoke about my parents, he never told me how they both died. He only kept on emphasizing that I had to live like other werewolves. That I had to hide my powers. He didn't reveal much to me about them or the Primordials. At age eleven I was almost kidnapped at my old school. This was the
Aden's POVThe thought of a helpless Mary slain by the rogue wolf was something I wanted to erase from my memory.Although we didn't know what we were going to do with Mary after the Interrogation, it was certainly not to kill her.It was obvious the rogue we captured was scared of the Moonking. And he knew the consequences he will face if Mary was to spill more of what she knew. From his last words, before he killed himself, it looked like he was threatened. I think the pack of rogue werewolves were threatened. Probably they were told if she was found she should be killed and finished her off like the others before her. Logically thinking about how Moonking has been killing. I will say Moonking was cleaning up his mess. When he bit his victims, he decapitated them to prevent them from rising again. From all indications, it seems he wants to be the only hybrid. "What is he really scared of?" I thoughtHe doesn't let them go after the bite. This hybrid needs blood to survive, but
Kierra's POV"You look lovely," Aden complimented me. Aden pulled out a seat for me while I sat. I smiled at him appreciating his sweet gesture."Thank you," I replied AdenThe restaurant was huge, of course, and I knew he could afford it. But what quickly caught my attention was the silence. The restaurant was empty. "Where's everybody?" I asked. It was normal for me to ask Aden because I came in to see him sitting alone in the restaurant.''There wouldn't be anyone for the rest of the night" he replied "I paid for the place so you and I can have a peaceful and great dinner." He responded"Wow, it must have cost you a lot," I asked"It's nothing Kierra, I will pay any amount to make sure the time I spend with you isn't sabotaged by annoying external factors", he said grinningThere was a bottle of wine and two glasses on the table. He called on the waiter to serve us the best meal available on the menu because when he asked what I wanted to have, I didn't have any choice and he
Aden's POV I had already told Uncle Tim and Cassel about my plans of going to Kenvy to get more information about the murders. Cassel volunteered to go with me. In the last few weeks since Mary's episode, he has become more proactive. He was back to his former self. He finally accepted that staying at home frequently wasn't what was going to protect his family if danger ever came. But going into the field to stop whatever danger it was from ever coming close to Borgn was the best way at keeping them safe. I have tried to avoid Katrina as much as possible. What happened five days ago was something that still haunted me. It felt like I had cheated on Kierra. I know Kierra is nowhere to be found, she might even be dead since no one has mentioned seeing her anywhere. When the incident happened, Kierra was quite popular on the News channel. Her uncle and aunt's death, and the disappearance of Kierra and their housekeeper. The mystery behind the unfortunate incident still remains uns
