As we made our way back to the main area of the pack, my mind was racing with questions. What was Rhys hiding from me? And why was this demon so intent on causing trouble?

I decided to take Rhys aside and get some answers. "Hey, can we talk for a minute?" I said, pulling him aside.

He looked at me, his expression guarded. "Sure, what's up?"

"I just wanted to know what you're not telling me," I said, crossing my arms. "You said you and the demon had a history. What did you mean by that?"

Rhys sighed, running a hand through his hair. "It's complicated," he said. "Let's just say that I made a deal with him a long time ago, and it didn't end well."

I raised an eyebrow. "A deal? What kind of deal?"

Rhys hesitated before answering. "He wanted something from me, and I agreed to give it to him. But he didn't hold up his end of the bargain."
