I still couldn't wrap my head around the fact that Marcus and Isabella would abandon me like that, but I've learned to trust only myself. I heard a knock on the door and opened it, it was Megan.

“Please, come in.”

“I'm sorry, I couldn't come as soon as you called, babe.”

She apologized as we walked into the living room and sat down.

“It's fine. How was your trip?” I forced a smile.

“You know you don't have to be like this around me.”

My gaze fell on the floor, “What more can I do?”

“Everything, but not conceal your feelings and pains.” She pulled me closer for a hug.

“It's going to be fine, I'm sure they have a reason.”

“Really?” I scoffed and pulled away from the hug with tears in my eyes.

I got up and swiftly turned to her.

“Everyone always has a reason to leave me, isn't it?”

She swallowed hard and walked to where I was, took my hands in hers.

“You can't conclude unless you hear the other side of the story. You shouldn't be too hard on yourself now.”
