24. On his lap

Kendrick stood outside the secret door of the dungeon to make sure there wasn't anyone standing outside. He didn't want anyone to find out about this place. When he didn't hear any sound near the place, he slowly opened the door.

As he stepped through the door, he noticed a small petite body at the opposite side, leaned against the wall and laying down. Walking further toward that body, Kendrick discovered Faith lying asleep on the floor. His brows frowned as he couldn't hear her heartbeat.

"Faith…?" He kneeled down and slowly called out her name, but received no response.

Worry welled up inside him as he rushed to her side, gently shaking her to wake her up. However, Faith remained in a deep slumber, oblivious to his presence.

Kendrick's worry turned into a mix of relief and tenderness as he realized she was unharmed and simply exhausted from cleaning the whole training building herself.
