"Are those files so heavy that you took nearly five minutes?" When I walked into Jax's office, he exclaimed.

"I'm sorry, sir, but I'm not familiar with this company—"

"Liar. Haru has already roamed you here, so it's unlikely that you're unfamiliar with the area."

When he said that, my lips parted.

What if I'm not particularly good at remembering things?

He took the files from my hands and replaced them with a pile of papers.

"The information in those folders pertains to new cellphone models. Check that they have entered the correct codes."

I'm unable to move because I'm unsure of the location of my personal office.

"What's the matter with you? Go tobyour office now."

"I have no idea where my office is," I said, causing his hands to slap his brow.

"Oh my gosh, your office is right next door."

I shrugged and proceeded to the office to which he had directed me. It's a little big for me, but it's a pleasant place to work.

"32... 33... argh, there are so many missing details in this model," I grumbled.

I ducked under my table to look for the original documents so I could figure out what the missing details in that model were.

When someone knocked on my door, I was turning the page of papers.

"Come on in."

"Selena? Where are you?"

My brow furrowed as I heard Haru's voice. I stood up and brushed my hair.

"What brings you here?" I enquired. He sat in the visitor's chair and dropped another stack of papers.

Seriously? I didn't work here as a lawyer.

"Can you tell me what that is?" While writing the lost details of the Haviani X29 model, I inquired. He began speaking after clearing his throat.

"This is a list of the company's investors and other board members. Call them to inform them that our company will be holding a meeting next month to discuss the launch of Devonix models "He went on to explain.

"Doesn't that look like their profile?" I inquired as I slid the folders closer to me.

"Yes, I want you to get to know them and research their background so you don't embarrass yourself if you ever have to face them."

While looking at the profiles of the investors and chairpersons, I gave him a nod. He said his goodbyes and walked away.

When I looked at their profiles, I felt as if I was drowning in their annual earnings. They have the financial means to purchase the entire United States.

While reading their profiles, I exclaimed, "Woah, I had no idea they were such a big deal."

My eyes widened and I covered my mouth in disbelief as I turned the page to the next page.

"Raven is on of the backer?"

I keep reading his profile and drowning in his earnings.

"Around $200 million... per month?! What the fudge?!"

"Where are the particulars, Ms. Formosus?"

"Oh, my God!"

I jumped on my swivel chair and held my chest because of the sudden talk from Mr. Jax. I inhaled and exhaled before facing him.

"Ahm, I'm sorry for not giving you on time, but it's all finished. Here." My hands are trembling while giving him the folders.

"Are you okay? I didn't mean to startle you," he said, and looked at the papers on my table.

"Haru gave that already to you?"

"Yes, he said that I needed to do a background check on them and also inform them about the meeting for the launching of the Devonix models next month," I said after drinking my water to calm myself.

"No, call them right now for the meeting after lunch, at two o'clock. The event will take place the following week," he said and suddenly turned his back to walk out of my office. I was about to ask him of the sudden change of schedule but—ah nevermind.

I began by cleaning my table and then introduced myself to the chairpersons and investors one at a time.

"This is Mr. Jaxon Silvenia's secretary from Silvenia Technology Company. I just wanted to let you know that Mr. Silvenia said you'd have a meeting at the company's conference room later today at two o'clock. The meeting is to discuss the next week's launch of Devonix models."

That's what I told the twenty-nine people over and over again. I take a drink before dialing Raven's number.

"So should I talk to you formally or..." I said when finally answered the phone after three dials.

[Why? What's the matter? I'm sorry for not picking up immediately.]

"No, it's fine. Anyway, Mr. Silvevnia said that you'll have a meeting today later at two o'clock."

[For what?]

"Discussion about tghe launch of Devonix model next week."

[Next week? I thought that was next month?]

"I don't know. He didn't say any reasons for that."

[I understand. I'm going to taje a shower now. Congratulations, by the way.]

"Yeap thank you, take care."

Because my back hurt so much, I hung up the phone and leaned back in my chair.

I closed my eyes for a few moments. Someone knocked once more.

"Please come in."

Haru walked in with a smile and some restaurant purchases.

"Did you already have your lunch?" he inquired, placing the foods on the other table on the left side of my office.

"You don't have any projects to complete? I've noticed that you're always wandering around the company," I inquired as I observed him preparing the foods.

"I'm already finished with it. Come on, let's eat."

I cleaned my table first, then approached him. I sat in the chair next to him.

"You'll be joining us later," he said as he cut the pork belly for me.

I nod and begin to eat my meal.

"Yeah, I'm Mr. Jaxon's secretary, so I go wherever he goes."

"Are you not afraid, or even concerned, that you might say something that undermines the investors' trust in us?" he asked, looking at me.

"I don't see any reasons to be afraid or worried about the meeting." Without hesitation, I responded. He smiled at me, which perplexed me a little.

"What's the point of that smile?"

"Nothing, I'm just amazed at how brave and intelligent you are."

I smiled at him and tossed him some pork belly and rice.

"Stop congratulating me," I said, and we both laughed.

"In any case, is Raven one of our investors?" I inquired, noting how his smile faded. He cleared his throat and added a small slice of pork steak to his plate.

"Yeah, Raven was the one who assisted Jaxon in running this company before we arrived."

"Is there a schism between the two of you?" I inquired. He avoided my gaze, and I noticed how hard he gulped due to his Adam's apple.

That is correct. He had a hand in Haxilla's past.

"I'm... I'm a little envious of him..."

"Why?"

"My father is always praising him and comparing us to death," he clenched his teeth in rage.

"How did your father get to know him?" I inquired.

"We used to be classmates, and my father always told me that I needed to rank higher than Raven."

I just nod at him because I'm not sure what to say next. I eat quietly, thinking about everything he said.

If he knows Raven, he knows what the score is between Raven and Haxilla.

"Did you know that—"

"Ms. Formosus, please come to my office right away."

Mr. Jaxon's announcement cutted my words. When I looked at Haru, he smiled and signed that I can go.

I went to the bathroom first to brush my teeth and prepare myself. When I entered Mr. Jaxon's office, he handed me another stack of papers.

"Whose case files are these?" I asked quietly, but I know he heard me.

"That's not a case file, but I can put you in jail if you say anything wrong that can bring our company down," he said solemnly, and I just rolled my eyes.

"That is the agenda for our later meeting. Even if you're new here, the investors will not let you to avoid their questions. It is important to study and comprehend it thoroughly."

"Is that all?" I inquired, preparing to leave.

He leaned against his table and looked at me as if he was reading my entire personality.

I looked at him and exchanged glances with him.

"You're the most disrespectful of all the secretaries I've hired..."

My brow furrowed. How did I end up being the most disrespectful?

"Will I take that as a compliment or an insult?" I inquired, but I didn't mean to sound sarcastic. He smirked as he leaned back in his swivel chair.

"Let us probe. You can leave now; you only have about 25 minutes to study that "He said this before standing up and adjusting his suit.

I walked out to his office and sat at my desk. I opened the folder and felt drowned by the number of letters written in the document.

I looked for a notebook and ballpen on my desk when I realized I needed to take notes in order to remember everything.

I opened one of the drawers and discovered a notebook with a note inside. When I read the words written on the note, I smiled.

'I wish you luck on your first day, first meeting, and first insult from Jaxon Lol. I love you - Haru'

"Silly," I said, as I slid the note into my bag and began reading and taking notes for the upcoming meeting.

"Are you prepared?" Haru asked me as we walked towards the conference room. The meeting will begin in ten minutes.

"Yeah, I take notes on the important details about the Devonix model, the features and parts that I can recommend to make this model the best-selling cellphone model," I said, tapping my notebook.

He drew me closer to him and kissed my brow. I slap his shoulders and rub the area of my forehead where he kissed me.

"What was the point of that kiss?" I inquired because I was perplexed.

"I'm just proud of my girl," he said as he stroked my hair with his fingers.

When I heard that a group of employees was going to pass us, I immediately moved away from him.

I said, "I'm not yours," and walked away from him into the conference room. When Raven saw me, he smiled, and I returned the smile.

I sat in the chair next to Wade, bowed slightly at him, and he gave me a nod. I calmed myself by opening my notebook to check my notes.

Almost half of the people who had been invited had arrived and were reading the agenda.

Haru was sitting next to me, which made me uncomfortable.

"Good afternoon!" exclaimed a girl, drawing our attention to the door. Except Haru, who bowed his head and looked annoyed. She's the same girl who was previously with Haru.

"Hello! Oh, hello there, baby!" She rushes towards Haru, about to kiss him on the lips, but he moves his head, so she kisses his cheek instead.

I rolled my eyes and shifted my seat between Wade and Raven. When Haru noticed that I had switched seats, I saw his shocked and betrayed expression.

"Is she Haru's fiancee?" While watching them, I asked myself a question. The girl is obviously clingy and cheeky towards Haru, but his annoyed expression made it even funnier.

"Yes, the most clingy girl at Blastyden University," Haru and Wade agreed.

"I wasn't expecting both of you to respond to the question. Anyway, what is she doing here? She does not appear to be an employee here."

"She's not an employee, but one of the investors here," Raven responded while playing with his pen.

"One of the investors? Her name wasn't on the list that Haru gave me," I said, remembering all the names on the list, and I'm sure Mrs. Howard is the only girl there.

"Haru probably didn't compile his fiancée's profile because he knows you have to background check all the backers," Wade explained.

I was about to say something, but Mr. Jaxon had already entered the conference room to begin the meeting.

I glanced in Haru's direction while they were setting up the powerpoint.

What exactly did you intend to do?
