CHAPTER 97

RUBY'S POV

I felt like I was floating on clouds while I drove my way back home. I couldn't stop smiling or humming along to the song that played from the radio and when I got to a traffic light where I had to stop, I even danced along for a moment before I continued to drive.

I felt like the happiest person alive. Like nothing could deter my good mood and even though I was still feeling guilty about selling Dax's plan for a partnership to Dennis, I trusted Dennis to keep it a secret for me so Dax wouldn't find out during his investigation.

I knew he was going to do his part since I did him a huge favor by giving him what he wanted, which was to feel superior to Dax in the industry… even if it was going to be momentary and I began to consider Clarissa's advice.

Maybe I could tell Dennis I was done with the deal and be out of it for good… regardless, I did my part as we agreed and I believed once was enough.
