another step forward

Fear passed through her like a cold ghost and she shivered, I saw it. She dropped her hands and shoved the knife back into her pants.

“You'll pay." Was all she said before storming out of the building.

I watched her leave and I started trying to get my slender wrist off the ropes, it ended up cutting my skin and blood escaped the wounds. I gave up and cried. I deserved this, if I just stayed home, if I just stayed home I would have been safe, Gabriel would be home now and I'd let him hold me while he told me about his day, everything would go so smoothly.

I cried because it felt like the last time I would ever see Gabriel was this morning before he left.
