Chapter 3: Electric Shock

Finally after some several tries, the door has been freezed off from its security features.

"All good, boss. You may now open it..." Conner instructed after temporarily disabled the security feature of the door.

Saint's hand is already in mid-air. He breathed in a bit to brace himself. He is not someone who is afraid of getting killed but right now, death is not his kind of option. He has to fulfill the promise he swore in front of his father's coffin...

"I promise you... I'll avenge your death. I'll avenge your unfinished task. I will bring hell towards those people who plotted against you..."

Saint finally came inside the main party hall of the resort. He saw few influential people inside the venue. They were holding wine glasses while faking their laughter towards other people. He heard a lot of show-offs that completely made him laugh a little. "Filthy dudes with their bling-blings," he commented.

He is still in his bell boy's uniform. But compared to the outside mess, the people around didn't care about him. It is the relief he is waiting for.

"I'm not catching their attention, right?" he asked through the earpiece.

"Nope! I doubt it, boss. I have to tell you... people inside that venue are all fanatics of Western beauties. They wouldn't mind about you... somehow. No offense meant," he frankly said.

Saint smirked at what his friend had said to him. "Then, what a relief!" he happily whispered. "I'm just surrounded by Sinophobic people. That's all. Suits me well..." he commented while walking around, trying not to be suspicious as quite as possible. He wouldn't be offended even though he is the only Asian-looking member of Mirage.

He takes after his late Asian mother. She was a Filipina descent that resided in Italy before his father found her. And apparently, he is the only child since his father retains the tradition inside Mirage, to not have conflict in positions. That makes Saint the one and only legitimate new Underground Boss of Mirage.

"Where's the Capo?" he asked.

"He's on his way to the entrance. Get ready there..." Connor informed him.

Saint abruptly walked towards the entrance door. From there, he already saw the vain figure of Monte Silva.

He wore a manly and cunning navy blue tuxedo while he flaunts his charisma to everyone. Of course, Monte is also a well-known womanizer and a CEO of a huge finance company in New York. He is in his 40s with a masculine figure that women would swoon for.

The cameras flashed before his presence. Too many guards followed him in alert. Those reporters and photographers didn't get the chance to ask him questions. Monte just continued walking confidently. His soldiers keep 2-meter distance between him and the mediamen.

At last, the Capo is now inside the hall. Saint abruptly bowed when they passed by him.

"Keep the things clean, boy!" one of the soldiers told him. He threw keys at him that Saint easily caught in mid-air.

He didn't say anything more and just bowed his head. Then, the group easily got away.

Saint smirked a little. Gotcha, idiot!

"Did it work?" Connor asked from the other line.

"Yup. Nice and smooth. I'll be delivering the keys to Mark now..." he said while walking back to the center of the hall. He carefully looked at the incoming figure of Mark.

He is holding a round tray of champaigne. He wore his white polo with a black bow on his neck. He spotted Saint with his meaningful look.

They met halfway. As soon as Saint reached to his side, he slid the keys into his pocket without everyone noticing it. It almost became faint and unnoticed by the people near them. Smooth. It's also a perfect spot since the people around them are mostly the ones who are captured in a CCTV camera.

And just as quickly as it happened, so as Saint and Mark quickly walked past each other like nothing happened.

Saint put a faint smirk on his lips. Mark goes to the car where Monte's things are located.

"Con, where's the room? How do I get in?" Saint asked when he got away from the crowd. There is a staircase that he found when he asked that question in the earpiece.

"Room 23, 2nd floor. The security feature is the same with the door that Mark opened earlier, however, we can't let them know that you're going inside. I'd have to disable the security features first. It will be 3-10 seconds. By that time, you need to move fast. Can you do that, Boss?" Connor asked.

Saint sighed as soon as he climbed up to the staircase. He calmly walked when he reached the 2nd floor. He looked at every area his eyes could greet without making any suspicious moves to others. "Okay. Just guide me or we're all both dead..."

Saint started to walk in another narrow hallway. He saw the walls painted in emerald green and the ceiling is plain white. He started to make his movement a little faster, finding the right room. He walked pass 6 rooms. Finally, he saw the room at the end of the left wing area.

He smirked. "There you are..." he whispered.

As expected, there are no soldiers or guards by the door. He walked near it when suddenly, Connor's voice made him stop.

"Not yet, boss! Stop!" he yelled on the earpiece.

Saint creased his forehead. "What now?"

"Look at your feet. Do you see a line on the floor? Something like a long dent?"

Saint did what he was asked with his forehead creasing in confusion. Then, he saw what Connor meant. There is a long dent line on the floor where his ticktack shoes almost touched. "Yeah. I can see it. What's this?"

"Don't proceed beyond that line, boss. The floor is also going to electrify you," Connor warned.

Saint's brows arched. "Damn technologies!" he hissed. Mafias may see him cool and unfazed, but deep down, he is still a short tempered guy that has limits in understanding people and things. He can understand others especially if it is about combat and the mafia world. But other than that, he didn't want to stress himself out. He hates doing techy stuff although Mirage System has already trained him so far. But he doesn't do most of the troubleshoots. That's why even though the Mirage already rooted an Under Boss for him, he didn't approve of it and requested Connor to be in it.

Connor is his right hand man. He is his real confidante than the designated Consigliere of Mirage. He is the tech guy that does the stuff Saint couldn't do. He is very good at technology and also how to make and detonate all kinds of bombs.

"What should we do, then? Just stand here and wait?" Saint asked sarcastically. He felt as though this heist became very unplanned.

"We don't have a choice but to do as planned. You have to get inside in 10 seconds. Can you do that, Boss?"

"I don't think so..." he said, discouraged. "I don't even know how to open the door. What if it's locked from the inside? 10 seconds isn't enough to buy time. It's too dangerous..."

Connor sighed and became silent for a second. Afterwards, he spoke again. "Okay. I have Plan B..."

****

After Connor laid the plans, Saint started to move once again. He used a long 4 x 4 wood he found in a utility room at the first room he passed by. He threw it into the floor.

He also knotted his tie and another rope at the hook on the wall on each side. He held on both of the rope and tie on his palms and wrists. He readied his feet and started tiptoeing on top of the wooden stick.

He carefully stepped on it. One wrong move, he might actually be thrown into his sudden and unfortunate death.

Beads of sweat started to form on his forehead. He also breathed deeply in his mouth. He is indeed nervous but at the same time focused on his movement.

He only has 3 steps left before he can see at the door the complexion of the door security.

His arms are open wide as he is holding the rope and tie to support his weight. He is starting to shake as his knees and arms are feeling muscle cramps.

After three steps, finally, he could sigh in relief. "I'm near the door, Con. Disable it immediately. I may not hold long anymore," he ordered him in a whisper.

"On it, boss. Give me a sec. Try to hold still and analyze the lock yourself..." Connor uttered.

Saint looked at the door knob. He has opened this kind of door in a manner of 3 seconds. However, he needs to make his muscles relaxed first or he will be definitely lose balance.

He cleared his throat and flexed his jaw. "Are you sure that this door is not too complicated?" he asked.

"Nah. I doubt it. They're all too confident that no one would dare to open this door. They wouldn't bother to lock it from the inside. And if they do, the lock is just too simple. This is how shitty this system is," Connor said. "Alright! The countdown is already set. You have 5 seconds to wait. I'm going to shut down all the servers for the mean time. Ready, boss?"

Saint clenched his jaw. "Ready."

The countdown to 5 seconds began. Suddenly, the power inside the resort began to fail. All lights and appliances came out like there was a black out.

That moment was Saint's turn to move. He started to let go of the rope and tie then finally stepped on the floor.

Meanwhile, Monte and his men are inside his room. They are in the middle of a meeting about their new heist for De Rossi Famiglia. However, the lights went out without any alerts.

Monte creased his forehead in deep confusion. "What happened? Is the power out?" he asked.

"Sir!" One of his soldiers came to him. "The whole Avenue is in blackout," he informed him.

"What about the power generator? Why isn't it activated yet!"

The soldiers jumped in terror as they heard Monte growled at them.

He is furious. Without the electricity, the high-end security he built for this resorts will be put to waste and deemed useless.

He punched the armrest of the sofa and kicked the glass table. Because of that, it broke and shattered on the floor. "I have a fvcking bad feeling about this..."

"We'll start to secure the whole building, Sir!" one soldier shouted. Then, they already walked out of the room.

Monte can't help but be anxious about the fact that there is a blackout. This has never occurred to this place before. He made sure that they will flaunt the new security feature for the De Rossis in a place where blackouts aren't a normal thing.

All of his men got out of the room. They are probably protecting his door and others got to calm the crowd outside, he thought.

But little did he know that no one is at his door.

An eerie feeling started to crawl under Monte's skin. He looked over his shoulder and felt like someone is watching him. He became alert and started to stand up. He ingested a lump in his throat. He brought out a revolver gun from his pocket.

"W-who's there?" he asked. A little nervous. He clicked on the hammer and looked at everywhere he feels suspicious of.

He could see a running shadow. He would follow it but failed to identify who it was.

"Who are you, son of a b*tch!" he growled once more. But his perpetrator never came out. He thought what if it's just his imagination?

Monte is still in his defensive mode. He is about to calm down when suddenly, he heard faint footsteps coming towards his direction. Then, a shadow slowly towered him.

He slowly looked up. A terrified look on his face was displayed. He trembled in fear and began to sprawl to the ground like a puppy being held captive by a nasty man.

"Y-you..."

The man stopped in front of him. It was Saint with his eagle walking cane with him. Now, he is in his divine white tuxedo.

He smirked at Monte and held his cap with a style. "It's time for your punishment..."
