Chapter 4: The Mirage Sigil

Monte can't believe his eyes. For years in service inside De Rossi Famiglia, he has never seen any shadows of the Mirage System. He has known them only through their Don's summons in a meeting where they are always reminded to avoid meeting one member of the secret society. What he knows is that the Mirage System has a new Underground Capo Famiglia 2 years ago and since then, the silent mayhem every Anti-Mirage Famiglias did has now reached their doors to the end of their reign. This man is unique in his operations and is very dedicated to making the Mafia World justifiable and to stay a secret.

This man, as his Don has described to them, is a man in a white tux and has the eye of the dead eagle. A merciless, evil, sinister man who is considered the Grim Reaper of Mafias. He is called the Mafia Saint.

Saint stood confidently in front of the De Rossi Capo without any emotions that can be read. He waited for this day to come that he could enter a very complicated Famiglia like the De Rossi.

He admits to himself that right at this very moment, vengeance is what he wants, not just to warn them of the Mirage's rules. The last memory of his late father lingered in his mind, how he saw him drenched in cold blood, lifeless and fully consumed.

That made him ball his fists tightly. Grimly, his eyes locked to Monte's position. "Uccidi il miraggio"... he suddenly uttered with disgust in his words. He kept his pace and tried as much as possible not to shout at this brazen man who puts a vile password in a secret door.

He saw the shock on the capo's face when he heard him say those words. He froze in his position and just stared at Saint.

"Does that ring a bell to you?" Saint asked.

Monte tried to laugh in a wit however, his shaking voice ruined it all. His hands began to shake slowly as he saw the fire that was starting to ignite inside the Underground Boss' eyes. "I-I don't know what you're talking about..."

A faint thud suddenly came in and the Capo began to cry in pain. He sounded like a child that scraped his knee. He held his left knee which started to bleed. Body shaking in torment. He was shot by Saint's staff. The bullet struck his skin and bones, leaving him to shiver but he kept kneeling and trying to regain his dignity.

Saint sighed and made a clicking sound on his tongue as disapproval. "I really hate when people lie in my face. I am asking you politely what it meant but you are now telling me that you don't know?"

Monte's whimper followed. He tries to stop his cries. He clearly didn't want to look pathetic in front of a Mirage Boss but the staggering pain took over his sanity. He groaned and pushed himself to silence. When he calmed himself, he finally spoke. "H-how did you know about that, Don?"

Saint walked to Monte's side and started to reply. "All of your secrets are my secret, Capo. You don't own them. That means anything that goes around the De Rossis is also for the Mirage. And if they go against us, that's when they gonna start ceasing their existence..."

The shock on Monte's face tripled. The cool Capo that is bowed by many inside his kingdom became submissive to a Grim Reaper of Mafias. He trembled again and shook his head. "D-Don... Please... I am begging you, don't—"

Saint pulled his walking cane up and acted as though he might push the bullet button but he didn't. He saw the terror in Monte's eyes and tried to duck and cover himself, crying. Saint kept his laugh all by himself and just smirked at his pitiful state.

"No! No! Please, Miraggi Capo Famiglia! Please! I'd do anything to please you! Please don't kill me. I beg of you..." he cried.

Saint paused after hearing those words from him. As expected of Monte. This is what exactly he is waiting for.

Saint walked closer to him. His shoes created echoing sounds of thuds that resembled Monte's heartbeats.

Monte, on the other hand, automatically held his gaze up until his superior overshadowed him. He gulped at his presence.

Saint looked down at him and gave him the coldest stare he has ever had given to someone. "I can spare your life right now, only if you do as I say..." he whispered.

"I-I'd do everything just to please you, Capo Famiglia! Just don't kill me. Spare my life! I beg of you..." Monte abruptly said.

Saint smirked again. He removes the eagle head from his staff and saw a metal at the end of it. It is round but is carved with a unique symbol. The symbol of the Mirage System.

He walked towards the fireplace and let the metal from the staff be engulfed by flames. Soon after, he removed the staff and turned to Monte once more. He looked at the poor capo with emotionless eyes. "Let this message reach your boss, my dear brother. Tell him that I came to greet you and that I am watching from afar. He must prepare himself. You all have 3 more warnings left in your family. The fourth one would be your demise. Do you understand that, brother?"

Monte kept on bowing his head, still afraid of his demise. "Yes, Don! Yes! I understand everything."

"Good." Saint suddenly grabbed his arm and then attached his attached the hot metal to Monte's skin.

Monte screamed and cried so loud. He kept on crying for his life. He tries to act normal but he couldn't due to the pain. His skin is currently creating a frying sound as the fire started to kill his sanity. After finally waiting for the metal to be removed, finally Saint took back the metal and cased it using the eagle's head.

There, the scar left Monte to see the letter M initial. It is the famous sigil in the history of mankind. Whenever someone has this initial, it means they are all subjects for warnings. For an initial punishment.

"Take me to the De Rossi Famiglia..." Saint ordered him.
