"What do you mean?", Seraphina asked.

"I had to make the decision, Lucian burdened me with that task. You were not supposed to be in this battle, you are not supposed to die or hurt", Hyperion said.

"How did he know I wouldn't die?", Seraphina asked.

"He didn't know, but he trusted me to do it right and I knew you wouldn't", Hyperion said. "I was not wrong about that"

Seraphina felt a lump in her throat and she choked on a sob. "So you knew? This entire time? How?"

Hyperion paused before answering. "I have known for all this time. I have been keeping watch over you Seraphina"

"Why? Why did you keep this from me? How could you?", Seraphina asked angrily.

"I had to keep an eye on you, I had to ensure you were safe from harm", Hyperion said. "The only way for me to have done it was to make you believe I betrayed you, there was no other way. Everyone had to believe it or they would have found out about the truth."
