Chapter 6

BRYANT POV

I pushed a strand of hair that had fallen off of my fated mate's face, my entire body was burning up and her breathing was ragged. I turned over to the family doctor, the distress in my voice impossible to hide.

"Is she going to be okay?"I asked him and then he nodded that  showing me it's not a terminal illness,

"...just a small fever with enough rest and her taking the drugs that I have prescribed she'll be fine," he added before he left.

The more I was looking at my mate the more I could feel the fury inside of me burning like a freshly lit fire that was being fed with Cole immensely, I remained in the bedroom with her for some time slowly calming myself down because I knew that if I stepped out and see my cousin Oscar I was going to do something that he was definitely going to regret.

How dare he touch what belongs to me?

As my fingers tightened up into a shaking fist I wondered if my cousin had any idea how lucky he was because if he had been able to succeed with his plan last night we would be preparing for his funeral right now, not even a meeting.

I had sent servants to inform every member of my family that I needed to see them for an emergency meeting at a given time and this was the time that I was using to cool off.

I glanced limited edition with that and understand that I have allocated community definition I took a deep and generous breath, before standing up then I looked down at my fated mate in a soft tone something I usually never spoke used for her, I told her that I was going to confront my cousin and that she didn't need to worry.

But as I was turning around to leave she reached out for me and wrapped up her fingers on my own, immediately froze up as I felt tingles really rise from that part of my body and spread all over in an instant.

It was extremely hard to maintain a poker face in that situation, but since I have spent hours literally building up my self-control for the encounter with my cousin I was somehow able to pull it off.

"Where… are you going…?" She asked me in a weak voice and then I patted her on her head and told her that I was going to meet my cousin, reminding her and reassuring her that she wouldn't have to worry about him after today.

"Thank…you…" she said as her eyes closed or completely and she slipped back into subconsciousness. It took me a while to take her fingers off of mine but I was finally able to manage it and then I turned around marching towards the room where I was expecting to see every family member.

When I went to the meeting hall I saw everyone except for the culprit that I had been waiting for with most eagerness.

"Where is Oscar?" I found myself asking without even greeting anybody in the room and my father and Grandma were.

"I had no idea that you and your cousin had gotten so close if that is the case then me and your father can just get up and leave since our presence does not seem to mean much to you,"

Quickly realizing my fault and regretting it I apologized to both of them saying that it was just a very important situation and Oscar was at the center of it.

"Oscar? Don't tell me that you are fighting with your cousin," my Grandma said defensively and I didn't respond but I crossed my hands and waited for the idiots to arrive and soon enough he did.

I gritted my teeth when I saw him. He was smiling from ear-to-ear like the fool that he was and he didn't seem to have even the slightest shred of regret or his face for what he had done to my fated mate, at least what he had attempted to do.

"Oscar, you sure took your time coming here and I'm guessing it's not because you don't know how to read a clock…"

He looked at me as he settled into a couch in the living room.

"My dearest apologies I forgot to that the entire world revolves around you and everybody needs to drop whatever they are doing whenever you need some attention,"

I clenched my jaw, closing my eyes, and taking a fresh breath trying not to imagine what the room would look like painted in his blood.

"So are you going to have the basic decency to at least admit what you did last night?"

I asked him and immediately the entire room was filled with a deafening silence. A look of shock flashed across his face for a moment and then he immediately covered it up with a confident smirk.

"Because I think you are getting a little stressed out these days but I'm glad that you are taking such an interest in my life however I don't think I did anything interesting las-"

I slammed my palm on the table, almost splitting it into and shocked everybody that was in the living room, especially my grandma who was looking at her in her eyes as wide as saucepans.

"Bryant!" She called out but my eyes still focused on my cousin.

"I know what you did, you tried to take advantage of my wife, you sick bastard…"

Another deafening silence followed after this and then it was broken by his shameless denial.

"I think that your wife might have mistaken me for another handsome man because I didn't do anything like that last night…"

The anger that I have been trying so desperately to keep bridlewood immediately broke and I was lunging at him but then my father stood in between the two of us as my grandma held my arm.

"Bryant, what has gotten into you?"
