Chapter 7

BRYANT POV

Even though my foolish cousin was trying to appear knuckle and I could see the fear that was masquerading as nonchalance in his eyes as he was slowly backing away from me then he was looking at my grandma and father possibly for protection for what was definitely coming to him.

"I really don't know what he's talking about, you all have to believe me…"

"Of course, we believe you!" my grandma said, rushing to stand in front of him and spreading her hands out protectively.

"How can you even think of hurting your cousin over the words of a wench? that's just preposterous!" I gritted my teeth and then I looked over to my father hoping for some reason from him.

But he just crossed his hands and told me that my cousin was the kind of guy that could get any woman he wanted so I didn't make any sense that he would be trying to force himself on anyone.

My blood pressure shot up when I heard this and it was even worse when my grandma added in.

"Yes my grandson is not such a pervert he would never do something like that and his standards are not so low as your wife to even think about sleeping with her even with her consent,"

I sunk back into the couch trying to control my anger. It appeared as if my grandma was bent on defending my cousin from the attack that he was supposed to get for messing with what belongs to me.

And since neither my father nor my grandma believed me I would not be able to punish him the way he deserved and at the same time, my wife will come out as a liar just thinking about it made my chest clench.

My father came over to me and placed his hand on my back then with a soft tone, he said to me that it was possible my wife came up with that story just so that she could get my attention.

I glanced over to him, my eyes blood red, so what he was trying to insinuate was that she had gone down into the basement, locked herself up, and put herself in such unfavorable conditions that she got such a terrible fever in order to get my attention.

after he said that I stood up on my feet sucking in a generous amount of hair, then I shot my worthless cousin a look.

"Oscar you should know better than anyone that nobody ever messes with what is mine and gets away with it,"

After I said this I emerged out of the living room and went to see my Fated mate. As I was coming up to see her I suddenly froze on the stairs realizing how kind I was being to her when I was supposed to remember that my heart belongs to Anna.

I shook my head desperately. This didn't change anything about how I felt about her but I would be completely heartless if I saw all these things happening to her and looked away. Today my conscience pressed me and asked if this was not what I had been doing before the words struck me like a bolt of lightning.

I was really guilty for all of that, so that was simply because I didn't want to marry her in the first place and it was just a twist of fate but after I made promises to another woman I had to meet her, this didn't change anything.

The only thing I was doing this was to maintain my territory. My foolish cousin was not allowed to believe that he could cross the boundary and touch things that did not belong to him.

If I allowed him to get away with this then he was going to be much worse in the future, after I had been able to confirm this in my mind I kept walking towards the bedroom, and by the time I got to the door my fingers were twitching with anticipation as I opened it up.

A reflexive sigh of relief escaped my lips the moment I saw her sat up on the bed and I rushed over to her side.

"You don't have to stress yourself if you can't sit up yet," I said, seeing how she was doing. However, she shook her head saying that she was able to sit up.

She has not really been looking at me before but when she turned around and fully took in my appearance her face became immediately pale.

"Alpha, I'm so sorry I don't know how I ended up in this room…"

"I brought you here,"

I got into her words and I could see her face contoured with confusion.

Then she timidly asked me if I had helped her, I sighed.

 "Well, what do you think?"

I said to her and she was immediately quiet, then I began to wonder if this woman was truly sure about what she had said since she even forgot about me bringing her here.

"Kiara, did my cousin really try to force himself on you?" I watched as her eyes became as wide as saucepans and her face became pale like bed sheets, and that was all the confirmation I needed. It was also coming with a lot of guilt thinking about the fact that I had caused her to go through all that.

I found out when she explained to me in detail what had happened last night pausing from time to time but I listened intently to every word she said one that stood out to me was the fact that he claimed there was no way she was my wife but rather just one of the maids which was what really propelled him to thinking that he could get his way with her and nobody would blink an eye.

When she was finally done there was silence between the two of us that was eventually broken up by her voice.

"I am really sorry," she apologized to me and I stared at her awesomely flabbergasted. Then I placed my hand on my lap leaning closer to her.

"What do you mean you are sorry?"

"well I was the one that put myself in that position yesterday I shouldn't have been in a lonely place and always dressed so shabbily then he would have thought that I was a maid,"

For a couple of seconds, I was so confused and frustrated at the same time I wasn't sure what to say then I placed my hand gently on her head as I looked into her eyes.

"None of it was your fault my cousin is a savage you did nothing wrong…"

The fact that when I said it is to her it appeared as though it was news and something that she was not aware of it all was what really shattered me inside, even if she was just a maid even if she wasn't my wife that didn't give my worthless cousin the right to force himself on her.

"My father and grandmother don't believe that you are telling the truth," I said to her pulling away even though my body was urging me to pull towards her.

Her eyes fell to the floor.

"Maybe it is for the best. I think that we should just forget about this…" he said to me in a weak voice.

"I don't want to be the one that caused a rift in your family,"

Immediately began to shake my head telling her in a reassuring manner that it was my cousin that had started everything and he was going to have to finish it whether he liked it or not.

I knew exactly how to expose him.
