chapter fifty two

My eyes snap open to a lonely bed, blinding light and the feeling of numbness inside my chest. Lifting my tired limbs, I make my way to the bathroom in an almost daze and stare blankly at a sad woman in the mirror. Even after all that time sleeping, the bags under my eyes are still so visible and the dull ache between my legs a blissful reminder of what I had done. Sighing, I open the cabinet the mirror is hiding behind it and a plastic bottle falls out.

The small circles inside it rattling as it collided with the hard surface of the counter top.

I pick them up and read the label. "Sertraline," I read out loud and try to remember anything I know on the drag. Turning the little bottle I struggle to read the instructions before giving up. Putting it back I reach for my toothbrush and drop other medicine bottles along side the one holding sertraline even after I just returned it. "Fuck," I curse under my breath feeling shorter than I pictured myself to be.
