Chapter 3

◇Aragon◇

Spark. Maybe that's what Daniel said. Daniel is the most annoying kid I’ve ever met. He was the one and only uninvited guest in my life. Maybe God was tensed for mother earth how she would handle that bothersome piece alone who can get out of hand in every single not-so-rocket science matter. Unfortunately, I couldn’t even kill him without hurting myself. Why so? He was none other than my one and only wolf. He started to scream in my mind the moment that piss-poor human touched me. No human dared to meet their eyes with me, except this one. She even witnessed my cruelty, still didn't flinch. Rather she looked at me with amusement and admiration. I couldn't relate her to others.

That hard-as-nails stone-hearted wolf with the hold of highest Royal authority was jumping with excitement by a sudden touch from an ordinary deadwood woman, that was utterly shameful. Disgust hovered over me when she was holding my arms to support herself from falling. Was it intentional or was she like a fragile clumsy girl….? I didn't know, not that I even cared.

Being touched by any girl was always something I liked to pour scorn on. As an Alpha, no female in my pack or the werewolf world dared to even go to the same path with mine unless I asked, let alone touching me.

"That has a reason though,” Daniel reminded me.

"We surely don't want to start a conversation on that,” I replied unmindfully.

Wait, from where did he suddenly pop up? He didn’t even protest while I was badmouthing him. That was something that happens once in a blue moon.

“I was listening. Just didn’t want to ruin my dreams because of a lousy brat like you. By the way, that girl we met before was someone unique, right?” He gave me a sheepish smile like a hormonal teenager.

“Seriously dude? Why are you so happy about a human? What's so special in her?"

"As if you didn't like it, you crazy ass!" I heard my irritating wolf growling inside me.

"I didn't."

“Tell me that’s the reason you wanted to kill her. You are afraid of falling for her, aren’t you? And now you are punishing a human, that too a woman because you can’t control your freaking emotions. Oh about emotions, you even asked to kill her less painfully. Why?” He was mad at me as I sentenced her to death. She was becoming his weakness and I could never allow that. As a king, he needed to be indifferent towards everyone.

“Me? I can never fall for anyone.”

"Liar."

Arghh! Why the hell was my wolf so troublesome?

“Alpha!!!!!” A sudden shouting sound distracted me from my crazy wolf. I turned my head to notice my beta, Abner was waiting outside the room hands on hips and lips curved into a pout. He looked quite adorable. He might be my beta while we were in the royal court or front of the pack. But when we were only us he was the best and only friend I could ever get. Call it a misfortune, he never leaves any chance to start some drama.

“Were you arguing on some silly things with Daniel?” He seemed completely pissed. Did I miss something?

“Why did you come?” I asked while taking a seat on the couch lazily.

“You should have asked when did I come? For freaking 15 minutes and here you two were busy in a childish argument.” He rolled his eyes.

“Tell me he’s not here to start a drama again. I'm leaving you if he again acts like a drama queen.” Daniel almost pleaded with folded hands.

Look who's talking now!

“15 minutes? Anything important?” I started to work on my laptop as I spent a lot of time on that rogue, I had a lot of work pending.

"Important!! Are you talking about anything important? I was about to die. Your female warrior was about to poison me. I was about to die." He put his hands on his heart , rolling those eyes dramatically.

"But still he is alive to get on my nerves," Daniel muttered.

These two would drive me crazy!

"Don't make a storm in teacup. It was Ricin poison, right?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Ricin! How did you know?" A frown came across his face to make me shake my head a little.

"That's my pack. Here nothing happens without my knowledge. It's a magical world. Elements talk to me here."

Of course, I had my powers and that's why I'm the most feared Alpha. I knew since childhood I was unique. I could never be the same as those mortal creatures. I was immortal.

Abner smiled a little. He knew it too but as I said, he didn't even need a reason to be dramatic. He could start his free show anywhere in any situation.

"I wanted to say thanks. Maybe you talked to the air to help me."

Did I say I can talk to the five elements? Well, that's one of my powers. But they were not bound to tell me everything. It was just they helped me when I needed it. I was not a God to rule then, merely a devil on whom they felt pity.

"That betrayer is taken for silver whipping. And that girl from the sea beach has not been killed yet. Alpha Arthur is talking to her in private. It seems quite serious."

Alpha Arthur? Why was he interested in her?

"What are they talking about?"

"Your guess is as good as mine." He smirked, "But unless the matter of your coronation, I haven't seen him so tense for years, maybe after you took all of the responsibilities."

He was the former Alpha of this Rivermoon pack. Unfortunately, the magical universe on the bank of river Aragon was not something he could handle alone. It needed magic to protect and to rule. Ordinary wolves couldn't afford it. Though Alpha Arthur had some extraordinary powers, fighting with the Evil, even God was not his cup of tea.

That's why I am Aragon, the protector of the magical world.

And if he thought he needed to have a chat with that human….must be something important.

"Let's check it out."

Hurriedly we started for Arthur’s study room. All the time Daniel was showing off his milk-white teeth along with those deadly canines in an ear-to-ear grin. Sometimes his freaking mockeries got on my nerves.

“You knew Abner would take steps against the female warrior before she could even harm that human, right? You just wanted to see if she gets scared of your ruthlessness or not. Look who was talking about feeling something special.”

Damn! Now he was going to tease me again and again.

“Touching someone accidentally was not a crime, nor witnessing a rogue getting punished. I am a man of ethics. As a king, I couldn’t punish her without rhyme or reason.” I was the one to uphold justice. Maybe I liked to be outrageous, I used to bring a perfect storm for rival packs because the whole world needed to be scared of my influences or else the magical world would be destroyed in the blink of an eye. But that didn’t mean I was against justification. My pack members might be scared of me, but I was their most beloved king because I was never unfair to them.

“Don’t give your affection the name of duties or justice. Not buying it.” That smug wolf smirked.

Arghh!

When we stood in front of Arthur, my eyes instantly fell on that not-worth-the-plugged-nickel human. She seemed offended as her hazel eyes turned into a light purple hue due to glaring, which I never noticed in any creature till today. Only that eyes changed in her, nothing else. But I could say her heartbeat was rapid and her muscles tensed due to some unspoken fury. Alpha Arthur looked at me with a smile. I didn’t know why he had a fatherly look that seemed somewhat confusing.

Once he looked at me and then at a human, “I have talked to her. She will live in the packhouse for some time. As she witnessed our Alpha kill someone’ it is not convenient for her to stay out of sight. So I think there is no room for discussion.”

Long time, he didn’t use that I-was-also-an-alpha tone, at least in front of me. He knew I would never protest if he wanted it so desperately. Lightly patting my shoulder, he left the room not before gesturing to Abner to follow him. I was left alone with the human.

“Alpha Aragon, protector of the magical world, king of the Rivermoon pack, you have got quite an identity….I see.” That not-so-innocent look in her eyes confused me more.

Was it a compliment?

“What’s your name, human?”

“ Ven.”

‘Sounds like venom, right?’ Daniel was in deep thoughts to find the root of her name. She was like a sweet seductress, eyes were enough to make someone drunk on some kind of poisonous love, and a smile was enough to seduce. Everyone was bound to fall for her. Not me.

“Liar!”

Here comes my annoying wolf again!

“Why do you want to stay here?” I was curious to know her reasons. No human was interested in staying in the world of wolves. She was someone out of track.

“Maybe to kill you.” Her luscious cherry lips curved into a wicked smirk. I couldn’t sense any angel or human in her, the first impression I got was the devil. She was also a devil with secrets who was favored by the elements, at least that’s what they said. Her aimed look directly fell on my eyes…… Was she being serious? I was cursed as an immortal. No one could kill me, no one!

“Don’t count on your chicken until they hatch,” I warned.

All the time Daniel was bouncing and snarling to let him come out, he was dying to meet her by himself. The slight fascination he felt for her was banned. If he was hoping for getting a mortal mate, that was never possible. But maybe his stubbornness was more powerful than my insistence. I lost control over him as my eyes turned into a deadly gray shade. I started walking towards her. Though I was dangerously close, she didn’t move. She remained still like an old oak tree.

Soon enough our breaths mixed. I felt my heartbeat go faster. Never in my life had anyone had much effect on me. Didn’t know about her, but I felt some unspoken attraction which I chose to ignore all the time.

Seemed like the world stopped. Maybe that’s the thing I feared most after meeting her, that shouldn’t have happened, no way! All of my thoughts shattered while she pushed me off with all of her might. I must admit, her strength was far better than any human, even than the wolves. I felt the same feelings, the same heart warming spark rushed through my veins the moment her fingers touched my chest even through the thin material of my shirt.

What the hell was Daniel doing? I again took control and noticed she was running away, from me, from my world, or some truths. Why did that hurt?
