Chapter 63

Rayne's POV

Not wanting to continue watching a moment that I probably wasn't supposed to witness, I quietly left the garden after that. I had seen enough.

As I bounded down the hall towards the dungeon, someone came walking out of a corner, giving me little time to even move out of the way. I barely dodged, and as I twisted out of the way I grabbed on to the nearest item I believed would keep me on my feet.

It was him again.

I let go of his shirt like it was a hot potato. “What are you doing here?”

He looked down at me, unsmiling. “I should be asking you the same thing.”

“I'm not a prisoner here.”

“Still doesn't answer the question.”

I crossed my arms. “Excuse you, but you have no right to ask me such questions. You're not the one hosting me here.”

“But I have been tasked with looking after you, as well as the role of a First Beta.”
