Forty Three

Hours before.

RYLEE

I scowled as I fixed my gaze on my sleeping mate. His hair was a tangled mess. It was longer than I'd ever seen it. The white towel wrapped around his waist had come undone, exposing one of his muscular thighs. I stared down at the tray of food in my hands, considering waking him up. He had been skipping meals. So, I had made up my mind to make him eat. On second thought, he probably didn't need my food.

I bit my lower lip as I set the tray down on the table and sat next to my mate. My hand hovered over his hair as I contemplated touching him. He groaned in his sleep, a crease appearing on his forehead. I gently combed my fingers through his silky locks, untangling them. His features softened and he relaxed.

I peered at his lengthy eyelashes, scoffing. He had the kind of face that was difficult to forget. The sharpness of his thick dark brows, his nose and jaw made him look like a super model. When he was awake, his eyes were the color of blue ice. They were the
