Chapter 79

DONOVAN'S POV

I watch Alexis as she sleeps as calm as a child in the physician's ward. She looks like she has been exhausted for a long time and her body badly craved for rest. I reach for the hair that fell to her face and arrange them away from her eyes. Seeing a small bruise on her cheek causes the anger in me to stir awake again. My jaw set and I tighten my fist as I recall the scene of her foster brother trying to force himself on her.

I was driving past the neighborhood and had decided to stop by Alexis' house and drop off some fruits that I had gotten earlier from a fruit vendor. But seeing the guy pressing himself forcefully over Alexis killed every excitement in me and I burned with rage. I could have killed him. Could have made him pay with his life for trying to covet what belongs to the Alpha but I had decided to spare him for the sake of his grandmother. Right now, I have had him locked up in the dungeon as a punishment. I hope they teach him a bitter, unforgettable less
