Chapter 84

ALEXIS' POV

I run deep into the woods in my long beautiful dress and crown. I keep glancing back as I run non-stop. There are figures covered in dark cloaks chasing me. I continue to run in the darkness of the night that is only lit dimly by the moonlight. Suddenly, a branch from a tree that had been cut to the ground catches my dress by the hems and sends me flying to the ground. My ankle twists the same time I fall to the ground with a thud and I cry in pain. Again, I turn my head to see that the cloaked figures are beginning to gain on me. My eyes fly open with terror and I drag my dress off the branch, tearing the hem in the process. Then, I try to get on my feet again but I am unsuccessful because of my badly aching ankles and I fall back to the ground. I struggle to get up again but as I try to move a foot, a sharp pain shoots all over my ankle and I lose balance again, falling back to the ground the second time.
