"The gods send their blessings to the house of the Alpha." The woman bows respectfully to the Alpha as soon as she reaches us.

"You may rise, Vera. Eyes and ears of the gods." The Alpha answers her and as the woman straightens her poise again, my heart beats fast, almost jumping out of my chest. Even though I do not have any reason to feel scared this way, I can not control myself. With the way the entire gathering had gone quiet as soon as she stepped into the hall, I can tell that she is an important figure whom I know nothing about.

"Vera. My mother's great great grandmother." Donovan whispers to me, his arm still wrapped around my own arm. "She never ages even though she's hundreds of years old. Legends have it that she was the woman who had received the Alken's prophecy of the white wolf. People believe she is a chosen one from the gods. I believe she is just a crook and an attention seeker."
