ALEXIS' POVThe coronation ceremony has already begun. The maids help me adjust my dress again and I watch my frame in the mirror. I look nothing less than a Luna right now. Mighty, powerful and beautiful. Perhaps that is what had given me the guts to hit Lori earlier. But again, I do not regret a thing. If anything, I felt so good after slapping her that I wished I could do it again. I can not believe that Lori would succumb so low as trying to seduce Donovan even after knowing he has already marked me and our coronation is only a few hours away. If I had walked in to see Lori and Donovan in the position I had seen them, I would have concluded that they were having a thing behind my back. But it was different this time. I had overheard Donovan trying to push her away when I was about to knock on the door. I had overheard everything and felt disgusted at her stupidity and greed.I hear the door creak open gently behind me and from the mirror, I can see grandma Rivera push herself tow
ALEXIS' POV"The gods send their blessings to the house of the Alpha." The woman bows respectfully to the Alpha as soon as she reaches us. "You may rise, Vera. Eyes and ears of the gods." The Alpha answers her and as the woman straightens her poise again, my heart beats fast, almost jumping out of my chest. Even though I do not have any reason to feel scared this way, I can not control myself. With the way the entire gathering had gone quiet as soon as she stepped into the hall, I can tell that she is an important figure whom I know nothing about. "Vera. My mother's great great grandmother." Donovan whispers to me, his arm still wrapped around my own arm. "She never ages even though she's hundreds of years old. Legends have it that she was the woman who had received the Alken's prophecy of the white wolf. People believe she is a chosen one from the gods. I believe she is just a crook and an attention seeker."This woman was the one who had received the prophecy of the white wolf? Th
ALEXIS' POV"I can prove it to you, my Lord." Vera maintains and eyes me as if I was an interesting toy worth exploring."I can prove to you and the entire gathering that the girl who is mated to your son and about to be crowned the Luna, is the white wolf that would destroy your entire family."Everyone gasps again in horror and Donovan's grip on me tightens even more protectively. I raise my gaze to look at his face and there is that fear from the other night present there. He is afraid. Afraid that I might eventually turn out to be the white wolf. I can not be sure of myself either. Even though grandma Rivera had assured me the other day that I wasn't a white wolf, I found it hard to believe her. First of all, the white hair. And second, why was I always hidden away from others so they wouldn't witness me shift?I am afraid of myself right now even more than I am afraid of Vera. I am afraid of my own true identity. All eyes watch curiously as Vera pulls out a small sealed tiny bag
ALEXIS' POV"Get her!""Don't let her escape!"The guards yell behind me as they chase me. I continue to run on my heels, my heart shattered and my heart heavy with tears. But in my wolf form, I try to be strong and courageous and I run on. I do not glance behind me as I run away. Instead, I focus on leaving the grounds of the castle safely and with my neck still intact. But I slow down at the sight of the woman a few meters away from me. She is dragging her feet with so much effort towards me. This time, I howl in pain to see her make so much effort to get to me. I run to her and nuzzle my head around her, seeking for a moment of warmth and comfort in her. Behind me, I can still hear the guards ordering themselves and running around, trying to find me."Why did you stop?" Grandma Rivera digs her fingers gently into my furs, her eyes teary and her face reddened. I howl lightly again. "Why did you get off your wheelie?" I communicate with her again and the tears in her eyes come rol
DONOVAN'S POVI am in my room when my mother comes in to join me. I have been pacing around the room restlessly for more than an hour. Just the thought of Alexis out there all alone by herself, afraid and scared, weakens me. I wish that I can at least know her whereabouts so that I can feel a bit of relief, knowing that she is safe and unharmed."Hey." My mother takes me by the hand and leads me to my bed, making me sit on it while she rests her weight beside me on the bed. "You should have some rest." She tells me and the anger in me only boils. How can she tell me to rest when she is supposed to be understanding of how I feel right now? Why isn't anyone understanding my feelings? Why is everyone expecting me to be some kind of rock without emotions?"I'm really sorry, son." She adds after a few seconds of silence from me. "Tell me…" I finally speak to her. "Were you at least surprised to find out her real identity? You liked her, mother.""Liked her?" My mother repeats my question
DONOVAN'S POV"Unlock the cell." I order the guards who are guarding the cell where grandma Rivera has been locked. "Uh…my Lord. The Luna ordered not to let anyone see the prisoner…" The head guard tries to explain to me but I shoot him a glare instead, cutting the words off his tongue instantly."I am the Alpha. Do you have a death wish?""Forgive us, my Lord." They bow to me before hurrying up and unlocking the iron doors of the cell. Upon walking into the cell, I see the old woman seated on her wheelie, her head downcast. She looks so pale and lifeless that for a moment, I almost panic thinking that she could be dead. But she slowly raises her head to look at me. Her face is soiled with tears and she looks even more sickly than ever. "Grandmother. What have they done to you?" I hurry to her and lean before her. Taking her hand into mine, I check her pulse for a sign that her body is functioning properly. It breaks my heart that an old woman is being mistreated by my own family b
ALEXIS' POVI do not know for how long I kept passing out and waking up again. But whenever I wake up, my eyes are blurry and never entirely adjust to the darkness. Even in my unconscious state, I heard voices of some men and women. One of them was oddly familiar. Sometimes, I am fed food and water. Yet, I cannot remember most of the details because I keep sinking back to the darkness. When I finally open my eyes again, this time the fogginess starts to fade away and I can clearly see the light. As my eyes adjust to the light, I squint my eyes from the banging ache that overclouds my head. My whole body feels weak and exhausted and I frown when I try to move my body, only to notice that I cannot. Again, I try to move my hands and feet but it wouldn't budge. Afraid that I might have gone crippled, I stare down at my body and horror overtakes me as I see that I have been tied down to a chair with strong ropes. Fuck. Am I being kidnapped? Now panicked, I lift my head and my eyes travel
ALEXIS' POV"You are within the territory of the Coral pack, Alexis Micah."Randall.I blink my eyes in shock and disbelief as I stare at him. What in the world is Randall of all people doing here at the Coral pack? The deadliest pack in the entire country!Maybe I had lost a nut in my head from passing out so much and I am going insane. I can not believe the sight before me. What is Randall doing here?"I take it that you two have met before." The man raises a brow that doesn't hold so much surprise. It seems like he already knows so much about Randall and I, and it is like a boring reminisce to him now. "By the way, call me Alpha Crane. For the second time, let me introduce you to my son; Randall. He takes after me, doesn't he?"My lips slightly part as he speaks and my gaze is still fixed to Randall who doesn't break his eyes off me. I try to say a word; any word but my tongue remains glued to my mouth and I cannot utter a single word. Instead, my brain tries to process so much in
