JADEN’S POV

As the preparations for the wedding continued, I couldn't help but feel suffocated by it all. Everywhere I turned, I saw the decorations, the flowers, and the guests arriving for the wedding. And worst of all, I saw Sophie.

She was always around, trying to catch my attention with her words and her coy glances. But I couldn't bring myself to engage with her. Every time I saw her, all I could think of was Willow. The way she looked at me with those forest green eyes, the way her hair flowed in the wind, the way she smiled...

"Jaden," Sophie's voice pulled me out of my reverie, and I turned to see her standing there, looking at me with a mix of annoyance and hurt. "Why are you avoiding me?"

"I'm not avoiding you," I lied, trying to keep my voice steady.

"Yes, you are," she said, her voice rising a little. "Every time I try to talk to you, you either ignore me or give me some half-hearted response. What's going on?"
