Last warning

5.

“Mate?” Selene asked. She looked around to see whether he was referring to someone else, but his eyes were boring into hers. He was… referring to her.

How?

She was the moon goddess; a being responsible for giving wolves their mates. She can't be a mate herself.

Dominic scoffed. “This can't be possible,” He stared at her. He took in her features, and even though she was relatable, he would never accept a stranger as his mate. He hadn't even seen her before, and now he was expected to call her mate? Never!

“The moon goddess must have made a mistake. Why would she mate me to somebody like you?” He snapped at her.

“I have no idea. I am confused and know nothing about what's going on here,” She arched her brows.

“Let me clarify this for you, Missy. If you want to survive in this school, stay the hell away from me, okay? And, if by any chance words get out that I was mated to a frail stranger like you, I won't hesitate to have your head for dinner.” He warned.

Selene couldn't believe her ears. “I do apologize, but I'm going to have to break the first rule,” She said. “I can keep us being mates a secret even though I don't know how it happened, but staying away from you will not be possible because I need you.”

Dominic hated her guts. “Whatever you need me for should go to hell. I don't care if you're here to train and become a Luna or whatever, but don't come close to me.” He threatened and walked away.

Selene cleaned her eyes severally and pinched herself to know whether she was dreaming or not, but it was reality. It really happened.

How could she, who is responsible for giving people mates, be mated to someone? The moon goddess can't be mated to anyone.

“No, it can't be.” She shook her head.

She brought everything down to the conclusion that it happened because she didn't have all her powers. With a sigh, she held the rope of her backpack and started looking for the class she was assigned to. She found it in no time and entered.

The teacher smiled at her. “You all should welcome the new student who came to join us today,” He announced, and they started cheering. “Please Introduce yourself to the class, so they can know you.”

“Hi, my name is Selene Moon. It's a pleasure to meet you all.” She smiled.

They clapped.

The teacher looked around, searching for an empty seat. When he couldn't find one, he looked in Dominic's direction. Dominic had his head rested on the desk, oblivious of whatever was going on in the class.

“There's an empty seat over there,” He pointed in Dominic's direction. “Go and sit down there.”

Selene nodded and went to take a seat behind him. Dominic was startled as that scent he had been trying to forget attacked him again. He raised his head and looked around. When he saw her sitting beside him, his anger escalated.

“Who brought her here?” He asked.

“I did. There are no longer seats available. I know you value your personal space, Dominic, but let her be your seatmate until she is acquainted with the environment.” The teacher said and returned to what he was doing.

“We meet again,” She smiled at him, but he ignored her and rested his head on the desk again. Selene sighed. “This will not be easy,” She muttered to her hearing alone and brought out her book and pen. She wanted to do as they did, even though she wasn't going to use the notes.

When the teacher was done, he instructed Dominic to be Selene's chaperon for the day and show her round the school.

“This is the cafeteria. I'm sure you aren't dumb, you should know what they do here,” He said and she nodded. “That's all for today.” He muttered and without waiting for her to say anything, walked away.

Selene sighed.

After school that day, she appeared back in the magic realm and communicated the news to the council.

“Oh my goodness!” Artemis was shocked.

“I'm serious. I felt it in my bones, even though I forced myself not to accept it. What should I do?” Selene facepalmed.

“Act like nothing happened and befriend him still. I'm certain it's nothing serious. Your powers might be the reason both of you feel that way.” Zeus explained.

Selene sighed. “I hope so.” She muttered.

THE NEXT DAY

It was a free period before martial arts class. Selene watched other students chit-chatting with their seatmates. She turned to look at Dominic, but he had his face buried in a book and acted like she didn't even assist. His attitude hurt her a bit, but she dismissed the pain.

Dominic couldn't bear staying with her and suddenly sprung up then dashed out of the class. Selene followed him until he got to a room and slammed the door shut.

She walked to the door and peeped through the keyhole. Dominic was standing before a dummy with a sword in his hand.

He just wanted to get her thoughts out of his head. After school yesterday, he had told his mother what happened, and she told him whoever that was, was his fated mate, and he shouldn't be mean to her, but he hated her, especially for her frail-looking nature.

Selene watched how he battled with the dummy and admired him. He was skilled.

The fight became aggressive as Dominic kept thinking of how to reject her. Blood dripped from his hand as a result of how tight he held the sword.

Selene gasped when she saw the blood. Without thinking, she opened the door and rushed to him.

“You're bleeding,” She took his hand and a spark of electricity shot through their systems.

Dominic yanked his hands away from her and held her neck. “How dare you touch me?” He thundered.

“Dom—”

“Don't call my name!” He snapped. “Didn't you hear it when they said I valued my personal space?” He pinned her to the wall and tightened his grip on her neck.

Selene started choking.

If only he knew he was choking the moon goddess.

“Please…” She pleaded. She could see the rage in his eyes. Why did he hate her so much? They just met.

“You must have really thought highly of yourself to touch me, right? Do not be faster than your shadow, missy. I won't accept someone like you as a mate!” He yelled and she flinched. “Last warning, imp. Stay away from me. I won't repeat myself again.” He snapped and roughly let her go, before walking away.
